PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Sven Dabble (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeffanee Ong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Sven Dabble!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jeffanee Ong!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Patrick Alders and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ong tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Ong will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Ong darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Ong prevents Dabble from improving his position.
Ong thows a huge punch but Dabble dodges it nicely.
Ong passes into side control, despite Dabble's attempt to control the position.

Ong tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Ong tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ong is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Dabble's shoulder. That is not cool.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dabble tries to bench press Ong off him but Ong keeps the position.
Ong wants to control but Dabble is keeping him busy.
Dabble might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Dabble is letting Ong control him for a moment.
Ong wants to stand but Dabble has his arm trapped.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dabble is looking to reverse the position.

Ong tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Dabble pushes Ong away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Ong gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Ong is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Dabble knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Dabble is being controlled here.
Dabble is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Ong asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Ong moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Dabble is looking for a sweep.
Ong tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Ong is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Dabble's shoulder. That is not cool.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Ong is looking to take a break and control but Dabble is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jeffanee Ong was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Ong uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Dabble.
Dabble changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Ong tries to avoid it but Dabble manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Ong to the ground. Ong escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Ong gets the takedown into side control.

Ong tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Ong has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Dabble is being controlled here.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Ong tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jeffanee Ong dominated that round.
That's time! Dabble's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Dabble pushes Ong up against the cage in a clinch.

Ong breaks the clinch.

Dabble moves into range and clinches up with Ong.
Ong lands a left hand.
Ong is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Dabble pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Ong is trying to pull guard but Dabble has him pressed against the cage.

Ong is trying to trip Dabble. He has hold of a leg but Dabble is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Ong persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Ong passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Dabble is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Ong off and has taken his back!
Dabble is not going to allow Ong to sit and survive in this position.

Dabble is looking for the choke from the back position but Ong is controlling his hands well.

That's one minute gone in the round.
I really don't envy Ong right now.
Dabble somehow managing to miss with a strike from the back.
Dabble trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.
Ong tries to escape but Dabble has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Ong breaks Dabble's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Ong slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Dabble is striking off his back. Ong thinks nothing of it though and passes easily into half guard.
Jeffanee Ong has got the better of the ground game so far.

Ong is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Dabble defends it well.
Dabble is trying to control but can't.
Ong blocks the strikes from Dabble.
Ong not doing much here.
Ong trying to control from half guard but Dabble is working away.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ong is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Dabble is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Ong is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Ong lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Dabble tries to hold on but Ong postures up.
Ong prevents Dabble from getting the reversal.
Ong controlling from mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Ong lands a big shot there that rocks Dabble but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Ong with the ground and pound from mount.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Ong is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Ong lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Ong controlling the position easily from mount.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Ong has control of Dabble's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Dabble regains control of the situation pretty easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jeffanee Ong showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Dabble shoots in for a takedown but Ong shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Dabble scores with a jab. Ong acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Ong just misses with a punch to the body.
Ong throws a right hand that Dabble ducks under and follows up with a left that Dabble also avoids with ease.

Ong scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Dabble won't allow Ong to pass to mount.
Ong is taking a breather. Dabble says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Ong is looking to advance position but Dabble won't allow it.

Dabble is trying to stand back up but Ong is controlling him

Ong seems to be working for a kimura but Dabble defends the submission attempt.
Dabble tries to roll over but Ong keeps him under control.
Ong prevents Dabble from standing back up.
Dabble is trying to maintain the position but Ong is very close to passing his half guard.
Ong tries to stand and escape but Dabble is controlling the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Dabble is looking for a sweep. Ong is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Ong content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Ong shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Dabble defends it nicely.
Dabble circles away from the clinch attempt.
Dabble takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Dabble moves out of range of the body kick.

Dabble closes the distance and clinches.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ong has Dabble pressed against the cage, preventing Dabble from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Ong has hold of one of Dabble's legs. Dabble is fighting the takedown attempt but Ong gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Dabble looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Ong controls from within his opponent's guard.
Ong trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Ong passes easily into side control. Nice work.
An elbow from Ong crashes against the mat.
Ong just content to control the position.

Ong working the ground and pound.
Ong working away.
Ong slows the pace down.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Jeffanee Ong comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Ong winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
