Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ray Charles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shawn Carter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Charles comes to the cage accompanied by Muddy Waters- Hoochie Coochie Man. Carter has chosen Run this Town as his entrance music. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 32 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ray Charles!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 29 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Shawn Carter!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Elvis Blanc and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Good exchange - Carter coming out on top.
Carter lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Carter takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Carter throws a head kick that misses.

Charles closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Carter to the mat! Carter manages to get full guard.
Charles working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Charles is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Charles throwing strikes but missing.

Carter pushes Charles off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Charles stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Carter.
Charles slips under a jab.
Charles lands with a good body shot.
Carter scores with a jab to the head.
Charles bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Carter's head.


It looks like Shawn Carter has been cut.
Shawn Carter is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Carter will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Good leg kick by Carter there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Charles pushing out the jab but it's not landing.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Charles jabs Carter to the body, keeping him at a distance.

Charles shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Charles was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Carter struggling a bit here.

Carter regains half guard.
Charles is trying to control the action in half guard but Carter is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Carter trying to hold on to Charles's head to control him but Charles postures up.
Carter tries to get to full guard but Charles has control of the leg.
Charles thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Charles sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Carter defending well though.
Charles is keen to just control but Carter is a slippery customer.
Carter wants to improve his position but Charles is controlling well.

Carter is trying to get back to full guard.

Charles wants to take a breather but Carter is having none of it.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Nice strikes from Charles there.

Carter blocking the ground and pound attempt from Charles.
Carter wants to control but Charles is keeping busy and won't allow it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Carter works his way to full guard. Good work.
Charles won't allow Carter to get back to his feet.

Charles loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Carter utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Carter trying to keep a closed guard but Charles is proving a slippery customer.
Charles works a leg free and moves into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Carter on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Charles uses his free foot to push down on Carter's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Carter.
Charles postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Carter looks a forlorn figure.
Carter is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
Carter tries to hold on but Charles postures up.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Carter is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Charles is staying active.
Carter working to try and regain half guard.
Charles working away from the top, dropping strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ray Charles dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Shawn Carter's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Charles's jab looks to have found its range, popping Carter under the eye.


That has opened up Shawn Carter's cut even more.
Charles misses with a left hand
and Carter counters with a flying knee. Nice.

Nice combo by Charles! Oh, that's hurt him - Carter falls to the canvas and Charles follows him into side control.


Carter is rocked!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Charles cracks Carter with a big elbow. Oh, he's hurt! Charles immediately mounts and start dropping bombs! Carter is done! The referee jumps in and saves him from any more punishment - a quick and decisive finish by Charles!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:30 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ray Charles!
