Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tony Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Davidov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that David Davidov was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Tony Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, David Davidov!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Chris Saunders and Colin Fray.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davidov shoots in looking for a takedown but Smith manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Davidov's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Davidov wants to clinch
and Smith holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Smith manages to break the clinch.
Smith throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Davidov's waist but Davidov gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Smith off to one side.
Smith tries to clinch there but Davidov circles away.
Davidov shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Smith defends it nicely.
Smith darts in and clinches Davidov up against the cage.
Smith breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Davidov dives in and grabs Smith's left leg, looking for a takedown. Smith pushes down on Davidov's head and hops out.
Tony Smith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David Davidov.
A momentary lapse in concentration from Davidov enables Smith to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Davidov manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Smith thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Davidov is on top in guard.

Smith wants to stand and escape but Davidov is having none of it.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Smith looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Horrible takedown by Smith or perhaps it was just good defense by Davidov which made him look bad.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
David Davidov has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Davidov manages to reverse the position and now he's in Smith's guard. Nice work there by Davidov.

Smith tries for a takedown but Davidov sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Smith gets caught napping as Davidov dives in and scores a takedown. Smith manages to retain guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Smith wants to sweep here but Davidov controlling him for the moment.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Smith shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Smith showed some decent athleticism there.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Davidov makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Davidov.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
