0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jose Figuera! The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Mauricio Rocha and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Figuera connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Kenei throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Figuera tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Kenei is in Figuera's guard. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Kenei not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Kenei's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Eduardo Kenei just wasn't active enough. Figuera throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena. A head kick misses from Figuera. Figuera throws a head kick that misses. Kenei looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Kenei passes to full mount! Figuera is trying to stand. Kenei has hold of an arm here, looking to extend it. He's committed to the armbar attempt here! Will he get it?! Yes! Figuera is forced to tap!
