Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Preston Scott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Maris Briedis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Maris Briedis is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Preston Scott! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Maris Briedis! The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Daniel Franklin and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Briedis tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Scott paws at him with a jab and circles away. Scott displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Briedis. Scott swats away the attempt to clinch by Briedis. A chopping leg kick lands by Scott. Briedis tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Scott swivels and escapes. Briedis throws a head kick but Scott moves out of range.
Briedis fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Preston Scott has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Maris Briedis. Scott misses with a jab, cross combination.
A swing and a miss from Scott. Briedis shoots in for a takedown but Scott shows good takedown defense. Briedis fails with a takedown attempt.
That's one minute gone in the round. Briedis throws a push kick but Scott slaps the foot to one side. Scott lands a nice looking kick to the body. Briedis takes a step back to recover. Scott scores with a decent looking hook. Scott rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Briedis moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Scott lands a really nice looking cross but Briedis seems unphased.
Briedis takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Briedis looks winded! Briedis stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Scott. Briedis shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Scott but Scott pushes him off and we're back to square one. Scott misses with a few strikes there.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nice uppercut lands for Scott. That snapped Briedis's head back.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! A chopping leg kick lands by Scott. Briedis shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Scott looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. That kick from Scott tenderised Briedis's leg. Briedis is trying to keep his angry face on. Scott lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Briedis circles away quickly and effectively. Scott connects with a right hand. Briedis shakes it off. Briedis showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Scott.
Briedis walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Scott scores with a three punch combo!
Scott works over Briedis's head and body with a nice combination. Scott looks for the body kick but Briedis saw that one coming. Briedis is looking to clinch. Briedis takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Briedis tries to move into range but Scott moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Briedis is trying desperately to land a takedown but Scott is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Briedis. Briedis doesn't manage to clinch there - Scott circles away.
Scott fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Briedis shoots in but Scott avoids the takedown attempt easily. Briedis drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Scott scores with a leg kick.
Briedis shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Scott as he avoids it easily. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Scott lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Briedis at a distance.
Scott's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Scott duly obliges. Scott lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Scott punishes Briedis's body with a nice straight punch. Scott swinging wildly here.
Maris Briedis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A right-left combo lands from Scott. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Scott cracks Briedis with a good jab. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Preston Scott dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Briedis looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Briedis tries to clinch but fails miserably and Scott counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Briedis misses with a head kick.

Briedis has a takedown stuffed. Briedis shoots in for a takedown but Scott shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Preston Scott has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Maris Briedis. Briedis shoots in and drives through. Scott sprawls well. Briedis is breathing heavily. Briedis looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Briedis showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Scott.
That's one minute gone in the round. Scott throws a combination that misses and Briedis counters with a three punch combo that has Scott backing up. Scott nods at Briedis to acknowledge the strikes. Briedis walks into a stiff left hand from Scott.
It looks like Maris Briedis has been cut. Scott misses with the combination.
Scott scores with a push kick. Preston Scott is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Scott scores with a body shot.
A slapping leg kick lands for Scott.
A left and a right from Scott both land. Nice combination. Scott connects with a jab. Left hook, right uppercut from Scott.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The fighters circle momentarily. Scott darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Scott thumps Briedis with a low kick. Both these guys seem content to just stand up and trade with eachother but Briedis might want to think about changing up his gameplan a bit because over the course of the fight, Scott has got the better of the exchanges. Scott stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Scott wants it to stay on the feet. Scott bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick. Scott fails to land with a series of punches.
Briedis tries to score a power double leg takedown but Scott sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Briedis somewhat. Preston Scott is winning the standup battle so far. Scott goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Sloppy strikes from Scott. Those never looked like landing. Scott throws a head kick that misses.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Briedis fails to land the takedown. Briedis takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Scott takes a swing at Briedis's ribcage but misses. Scott lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Scott wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Briedis decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Scott is looking to escape. Scott trying to control here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Scott is trying to get back to full guard. Briedis prevents Scott from standing back up.
Scott is not content to let Briedis control the position.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Briedis shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Scott defends it nicely. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Briedis. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Preston Scott dominated that second round. The cut man is working on Maris Briedis's cut. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!
Nice straight punches there by Scott. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Scott. Scott on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Briedis. Briedis obviously looking to wear him down.

Scott is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Briedis can do to turn this around? Briedis shoots for a takedown but Scott saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Scott looks to score with a jab to the body but Briedis is just out of range. Scott throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Briedis counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Briedis looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Scott is fending him off so far but Briedis persists. Nope, Scott circles away and we're back to standing. A lazy left from Scott finds it's target. Briedis throws a head kick that misses. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Scott with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
That's one minute gone in the round. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Scott.
Briedis tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Briedis fails with a takedown attempt. Preston Scott has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Maris Briedis. Scott scores with a spinning back kick! Scott throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Briedis has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Scott. Scott cracks Briedis with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Briedis takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Briedis throws a low kick but it's checked well by Scott. Scott works over Briedis's head and body with a nice combination.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Briedis fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Scott avoids it really well and circles away. Scott listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. Jab by Scott. Scott tries to land a front kick but Briedis steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Briedis's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down. Scott tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Briedis was well out of range. Poor timing from Scott. The fight stays on the outside here - Briedis looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Scott misses with a two punch combination.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Scott displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Briedis. Scott avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Briedis changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Scott tries to avoid it but Briedis manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Scott to the ground. Scott escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Briedis showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Scott.
Scott misses with a series of wild punches.
Maris Briedis has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Scott fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Briedis manages to avoid it. Briedis tries to move into range but Scott moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Briedis is defended easily by Scott. Nice takedown defense from Scott. No joy for Briedis on that attempt. A punch combination from Scott misses. Scott lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Horrible takedown by Briedis or perhaps it was just good defense by Scott which made him look bad. Briedis misses with a head kick.
Preston Scott is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Scott looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
And that's the end of the fight! Preston Scott showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Scott, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
