PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Borat Sagdiyev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Miles Harunodo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sagdiyev comes into the arena with Mamaliga blaring out of the sound system. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Borat Sagdiyev! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
13 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Miles Harunodo! The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Franklyn Lucas and Eddie Farnsworth.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Some bone on bone action there as Sagdiyev checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. Sagdiyev dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Harunodo throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Sagdiyev clinches up against the cage. Sagdiyev is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Harunodo pulls him back up using the underhooks. Harunodo is trying to break the clinch but Sagdiyev is controlling him. Harunodo blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Sagdiyev softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage. A short right hand to the side of the head by Harunodo. Harunodo is trying to force a seperation but Sagdiyev has the dominant position. Sagdiyev keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Harunodo's efforts to push away. Sagdiyev keeps control of Harunodo as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Harunodo wants to get back to striking at distance but Sagdiyev won't allow it.
Sagdiyev throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Harunodos head. Harunodo manages to break the clinch.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Sagdiyev throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Sagdiyev fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Harunodo is out of range.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sagdiyev looks to land a left hand but Harunodo moved out of range nicely. Miles Harunodo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Sagdiyev throws a right hand that misses
and Harunodo counters with a low kick, right behind Sagdiyev 's knee. Sagdiyev throws a lazy uppercut
enabling Harunodo to counter with a crisp jab. No joy there for Harunodo, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Harunodo lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Sagdiyev dips down and scores with a jab to the body. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Harunodo just misses with a punch to the body.
A head kick by Harunodo misses and Sagdiyev counters with a stiff right hand. Sagdiyev fails in his attempt to clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sagdiyev swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Harunodo.
It looks like Miles Harunodo has been cut. That kick from Harunodo tenderised Sagdiyev's leg. Sagdiyev is trying to keep his angry face on. Harunodo fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Sagdiyev checks it well. A big left from Harunodo misses. Sagdiyev throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Sagdiyev's corner calls for a 1-2. Sagdiyev obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Harunodo throws a leg kick that is checked and Sagdiyev counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Harunodo is rocked! Sagdiyev loads up on a big right hand but Harunodo slips the punch. Harunodo throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Sagdiyev blocks a jab.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sagdiyev swings for the body but Harunodo moves out of range.
Sagdiyev slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Sagdiyev misses with a body shot
and Harunodo connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Nice uppercut there from Sagdiyev. Harunodo is still on wobbly legs! Can Sagdiyev finish him? Sagdiyev connects with a leg kick. Harunodo looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. Harunodo seems to have recovered his senses. Harunodo throws a head kick but Sagdiyev moves out of range.
Harunodo throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Sagdiyev takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. Harunodo has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. A big left from Sagdiyev misses.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Harunodo missing with a left hand there. Sagdiyev was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Harunodo throws a leg kick and Sagdiyev counters with a leg kick. Harunodo ducks under a wild hook from Sagdiyev. Harunodo jabbing away but nothing is landing. A telegraphed right hand from Sagdiyev misses the target. Good shot there by Harunodo. Sagdiyev avoids a punch combination nicely.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Sagdiyev looks to land a combination but Harunodo avoids it well. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Borat Sagdiyev will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Miles Harunodo's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Sagdiyev moves into range and connects with a jab. Sagdiyev tries to bum rush Harunodo with a series of wild strikes but Harunodo uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Harunodo throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Sagdiyev looks to land a combination but Harunodo avoids it well. Harunodo misses with a right hand and Sagdiyev counters with a nice body shot. Sagdiyev connects with a jab. Sagdiyev throws out a loose jab but Harunodo uses good head movement to avoid it. Harunodo pivots, looking for a leg kick but Sagdiyev is out of range and Harunodo settles back down. Harunodo moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Sagdiyev moves away from the strike by Harunodo.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sagdiyev lands a nice hook to Harunodo's body. Harunodo takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. A cross from Harunodo lands. Harunodo takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Sagdiyev misses with a looping left. Harunodo avoids a punch combination nicely.
Harunodo throws an overhand right that lands on Sagdiyev's shoulder, as Sagdiyev tries to avoid the shot. Harunodo thuds his shin into the meat of Sagdiyev's side. Harunodo lands a brutal head kick. Sagdiyev looks out on his feet and Harunodo throws more strikes until the ref is forced to stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Kick and Punches). Miles Harunodo! A very excited looking Miles Harunodo rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
