Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Duey Doubleg!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Phillip Sterling!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Daniel Blasius and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Doubleg misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Doubleg takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Sterling stuffs the takedown.
Duey Doubleg seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Doubleg shoots for a takedown but Sterling saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Duey Doubleg. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Sterling with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
A left lands for Sterling.
Sterling darts in and out, connecting with a jab.

Doubleg closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Sterling wants to get back to his feet.
Doubleg seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Doubleg works his way into full mount!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Doubleg lands a heavy elbow.
Doubleg takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Sterling can do anything to dispel that myth.
Doubleg is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Sterling can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Doubleg scores with a couple of good head shots there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Doubleg throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Sterling has his hands clasped together but Doubleg breaks the hold and Sterling is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Doubleg!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Duey Doubleg!
After the fight, Duey Doubleg was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
