PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between kizzer D (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mauro Garza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Garza has chosen Donde estan perros as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, kizzer D!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mauro Garza!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Tarja Halkonen and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from D. No joy for Garza on that attempt.
Garza fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Garza tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but D swivels and escapes.
kizzer D has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mauro Garza.

D shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Garza's guard.
Garza is pulling down on D's head to control his posture.
D wanted to stand there but Garza had control of the position.

D is standing up over Garza. Garza looks to escape but D dives into side control.

D decides to take the fight back to the feet.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Garza with a poor takedown

and D decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Garza's guard.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Garza holds on and takes a little breather.

Garza throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! D escapes and throws Garza's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Garza wants to control but D postures up.

Garza tries to get back to half guard but can't.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
D working away.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Garza sneaks back into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

kizzer D dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Garza gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

so D counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Garza is pulling down on D's head to control his posture.
Garza wants to sweep but no luck.

That's one minute gone in the round.
D has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Garza is proving hard to escape from.
D preventing the sweep.
Garza has his hands on D's head, controlling the position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

D wanted to stand there but Garza had control of the position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

kizzer D dominated that second round.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


Garza doesn't succeed with the takedown

so D counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Garza looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
D trying to stand up but can't free himself from Garza's guard.
Garza seems keen to control D's posture.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.

D gets to his feet - Garza follows without any prompting.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

D closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - D lands in his opponent's guard.
Garza wants to sweep but no luck.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Garza has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Despite being in the dominant position, Mauro Garza just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Garza throws a sloppy head kick and D moves out of range easily.

And that's the end of the fight!
kizzer D showed his dominance in that final round.
Well D has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
