The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Firahzi clinches up with Der Ley and pushes him back against the cage.
Der Ley is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
Der Ley tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Firahzi avoids it.

Der Ley breaks from the clinch.
Firahzi looks to land a combination but Der Ley avoids it well.
Firahzi throws a body punch but Der Ley moves out of range.

Der Ley takes the fight into the clinch.
Der Ley is stalling here.

and Der Ley counters with a nice double leg into guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Firahzi is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Firahzi is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Der Ley defends well.

Der Ley got a little sloppy there for a moment and Firahzi has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Der Ley has managed to get both his arms back between Firahzi's legs - danger averted.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Firahzi is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Der Ley postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Firahzi working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Der Ley doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Der Ley manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joe Firahzi dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Good exchange - Firahzi coming out on top.
Firahzi punishes Der Ley's body with a nice straight punch.
Der Ley slips a jab and a cross from Firahzi.
Firahzi doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Der Ley counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Der Ley.

Der Ley pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Firahzi throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Der Ley.
Der Ley is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Der Ley takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Firahzi closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Firahzi tries for a takedown but Der Ley manages to get underhooks.

Firahzi tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Van Der Ley has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joe Firahzi.
Firahzi drops down looking for an ankle pick but Der Ley pulls his leg out and moves away.

Der Ley darts in and clinches Firahzi up against the cage.

Der Ley breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Firahzi blocks a leg kick.

Der Ley moves into range and clinches up with Firahzi.
Der Ley landing knees to the head.

Der Ley pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Der Ley shoots in and gets a takedown into Firahzi's guard.


Firahzi is rocked!
Der Ley arches his back and unloads with a massive left and a right! Firahzi's eyes roll back into his head, he's out cold! The ref dives in to stop the fight - wow, they were hard shots!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Van Der Ley!
