Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mikael Koivula (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Remy Musampha (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Mikael Koivula has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mikael Koivula!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Remy Musampha!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Nard Betker and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Koivula.
Koivula looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Koivula rushes Musampha and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Koivula works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Musampha keeping moving, preventing Koivula from controlling successfully.
Musampha is controlling Koivula's posture.

Musampha is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Koivula presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Koivula manages to pull guard.
Koivula controls Musampha momentarily but Musampha frees himself.
Musampha passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Musampha stands up and beckons Koivula to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Koivula lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Koivula.
Koivula stuffs the takedown.
Koivula misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Musampha.
Koivula changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Musampha tries to avoid it but Koivula manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Musampha to the ground. Musampha escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Musampha misses with a few strikes there.
Koivula leaves Musampha with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Musampha will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Mikael Koivula has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Remy Musampha.
No luck for Musampha with that takedown attempt.
Koivula stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Koivula wants it to stay on the feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Koivula shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Musampha sprawls well. Musampha wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Koivula gets slowly back to his feet.
Koivula is breathing heavily.
Musampha keeps Koivula at a distance using the push kick.
Koivula tries to work over Musampha's front leg with a kick but Musampha checks it.
Koivula goes for a double leg but Musampha avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Musampha continues to drive forward.
Koivula is trying to break the clinch but Musampha is controlling him.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Musampha wants to get back to striking at distance but Koivula won't allow it.

Musampha pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Musampha throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Koivula's jab looks to have found its range, popping Musampha under the eye.

Musampha feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Koivula knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Musampha on the ground.
Musampha slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Musampha decides to stand back up.
Koivula displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Musampha.
Musampha tries to score a power double leg takedown but Koivula sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Musampha somewhat.
Koivula tries to clinch but Musampha is having none of it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Koivula fails to land the takedown.
Musampha fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Koivula is out of range.

Musampha closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Koivula on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Musampha lands an elbow.

Musampha is working Koivula over with some ground and pound from side control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Musampha has hold of Koivula's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Koivula seems comfortable defending it but Musampha has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Koivula is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Koivula is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Musampha couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Remy Musampha!
