Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Douglas Quaid! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
13 - 12 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ilya Porunov! The judges for this bout are James Atkins, James Glass and Andrew Berry.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Porunov has his takedown stuffed and Quaid counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Porunov! Porunov tries to buck Quaid off but Quaid is having none of it. Porunov is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Quaid wants to stand but Porunov has his arm trapped. Quaid in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. Quaid is putting a hurting on Porunov here, landing some big shots from side control. Quaid trying to control the action but Porunov is working from the bottom. Quaid in side control lands a decent elbow.
That's one minute gone in the round. Porunov tries to get back to half guard but can't. Quaid is looking to take a break and control but Porunov is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Quaid scores with punches from side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Quaid cracks Porunov with a big right hand but Porunov just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Quaid controlling the position. Porunov is looking for a sweep. Quaid throwing shots but missing, from side control. Porunov can't do much from the bottom here. Porunov tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Quaid wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Porunov fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Quaid to the ground. Porunov is now in Quaid's guard. Quaid keeping moving, preventing Porunov from controlling successfully. Quaid keeping full guard, as Porunov tries to pass. Porunov trying to control the position from guard on top but Quaid is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Porunov must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Quaid pulls Porunov in close to his closed guard and prevents Porunov from doing any damage or advancing position. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Quaid stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Quaid wants it to stay on the feet. Quaid wants to clinch. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Quaid. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Porunov looks for a takedown but Quaid sprawls well. Porunov blocks a head kick by Quaid.

You can see the frustration on Quaid's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Porunov stands up and we're back to a striking position. Porunov misses with a takedown attempt - Quaid sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's one minute gone in the round. Quaid will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Quaid doesn't manage to clinch there - Porunov circles away.

Porunov slips under a jab. Quaid has his takedown stuffed and Porunov counters with a nice double leg into side control. Quaid won't be happy with that. Porunov is trying to get an arm triangle but Quaid is defending well. Porunov tries for a kimura but Quaid is defending well.

Quaid sneaks back into half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ilya Porunov showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Porunov is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Quaid off and has taken his back! Quaid preventing the rear naked choke attempt from Porunov. Porunov is hanging on to Quaid's back as he tries to escape.
Quaid defends a prolonged rear naked choke attempt and turns nicely into his opponent's guard. Quaid wants to get up but he can't break Porunov's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Porunov utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Quaid passes into half guard. Quaid sitting and controlling from the half guard. Quaid sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Porunov defending well though. Douglas Quaid overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
That's three minutes gone in the round. It looks like Quaid is going to stand back up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Porunov shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Quaid counters by moving into the clinch. Quaid jumps guard and drags Porunov to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Quaid trying to control the position.
