Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Seya Hyoga! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Javier Esteban! The judges for this bout are Josh West, Micheangelo Fripello and Jeff Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Esteban tries to close the distance and clinch up but Hyoga swats him away and circles back towards the center. Hyoga takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Esteban wants to clinch but Hyoga slips to the side and Hyoga counters with a left and a right that stings Esteban. Hyoga could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Esteban fails in his attempt to clinch. Esteban lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Hyoga at a distance.
Hyoga catches Esteban with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Javier Esteban seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Esteban misses with a body shot.
Esteban is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Esteban thuds a left hand into Hyoga's body. Esteban swings for the body but Hyoga moves out of range.
This has been an exciting period of action! Hyoga misses with a hook. Esteban ducked under it nicely. Esteban slips a jab from Hyoga. Hyoga circles away from the clinch attempt.
Esteban missing with a left hand there. Hyoga was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Esteban throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. A jab from Hyoga misses.
That's one minute gone in the round. Esteban uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Hyoga. Esteban feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Hyoga's calf. Hyoga cracks Esteban with an open hand slap. Esteban wants to slow Hyoga down by chopping away at his legs. Esteban doesn't manage to clinch there - Hyoga circles away.
