PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Shaun Clancy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anderson Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Clancy comes into the arena with Fat Segal blaring out of the sound system. Diaz has chosen National Anthem as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the ring.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Diaz. No joy for Clancy on that attempt.
Diaz doesn't succeed with the takedown

so Clancy counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Diaz looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Clancy stands up and waves to Diaz to follow him.
Diaz shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Clancy counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Diaz's guard now.
Clancy knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Diaz on the ground.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!

Diaz has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Clancy can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Clancy's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Diaz goes for an armbar but Clancy turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Clancy.

Clancy shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Diaz's guard.
