The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Radbod Blank and Aafke Stam.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith tries to score a power double leg takedown but Tahuna sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Smith somewhat.
Tahuna drops Smith with a beautiful combination! Smith stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Tahuna is looking for the KO!
It looks like Steven Smith has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Tahuna will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Tahuna throws a head kick but Smith moves out of range.
Tahuna closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Smith looks to land a left hand but Tahuna moved out of range nicely.

Smith lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

Smith has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Tahuna is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Tahuna fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Smith breaks the clinch.
Smith blocks a head kick by Tahuna.

Tahuna tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Tahuna is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Smith to keep the fight standing.
Steven Smith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Peter Tahuna.
Smith ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Smith no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

You can see the frustration on Tahuna's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Tahuna really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Smith. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Smith has hold of Tahuna's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Tahuna manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Smith changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Tahuna looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Tahuna takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Smith is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Tahuna's shoulder. That is not cool.

Smith is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Smith throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Tahuna because Smith loaded up on that one.
