The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Peters manages to get an easy takedown there - catching VanDamme on his heels. He'll look to pass VanDamme's guard now, I'm sure.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Peters sitting in guard here, content to control.
Peters landing with the ground and pound.
VanDamme is looking to stand up but Peters isn't so interested in that idea.
Peters wanted to stand there but VanDamme had control of the position.
Peters working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
VanDamme is trying to keep Peters in close.

VanDamme looking for subs off his back but Peters has passed one foot through into half guard.

Peters is taking a breather. VanDamme says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Peters winds up and cracks VanDamme with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Peters tries to stand but can't do so whilst VanDamme controls his leg.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Peters lands a nice short elbow.

Peters seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Peters is sitting in half guard. He's postured up and lands a nice elbow. Oh, VanDamme is hurt! He's hurt bad - Peters fires away with more strikes and the referee jumps in to save VanDamme from any more punishment! Congratulations to Peters! Great finish!
