Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Freddy Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Antonio Vegata (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alves comes to the cage accompanied by Trik Turner - Friends and Family. On his way into the cage it seems that Freddy Alves has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Freddy Alves seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
24 - 21 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Freddy Alves! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
16 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Antonio Vegata! The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Daniel Cesar and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Alves moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Vegata closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Alves slips a jab from Vegata. Alves uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Vegata. Alves thows a left - swing and a miss! Alves steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Vegata. Alves gets caught flat footed, as Vegata shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Alves is pulling down on Vegata's head to control his posture. Vegata won't allow Alves to get back to his feet. Vegata stopping the sweep attempt from Alves. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Vegata with a nice head shot there. Alves controls Vegata momentarily but Vegata frees himself. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Vegata working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Vegata postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Alves keeping moving, preventing Vegata from controlling successfully. Vegata preventing the sweep. Vegata postures up.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Freddy Alves. Vegata lands with a cross. Vegata looking to score a takedown here. Alves is defending well but Vegata drives through and ends up in Alves's guard. Vegata looking to sit in guard and control but Alves gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Vegata trying to keep a closed guard but Alves is proving a slippery customer.

Vegata has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Alves takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Alves prevents Vegata from improving his position. Vegata is looking to control Alves's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Vegata avoid being mounted? Alves trying to control the action but Vegata is working from the bottom. Alves throws a strike but Vegata avoids it easily and moves to full guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Vegata holds on and takes a little breather. Alves postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Alves looking to sit in guard and control but Vegata gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Vegata scoring with some ground and pound. Vegata looking to pass the guard. Vegata slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Vegata won't allow Alves to sweep him here. Alves tries to strike from the bottom.
Vegata is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Vegata trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Alves is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Alves keeping moving, preventing Vegata from controlling successfully.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Vegata is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Alves utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Alves looking to control but Vegata passes into half guard.
Vegata throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Vegata slows the pace down in half guard. Vegata missing with the ground and pound from half guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Alves blocking the ground and pound attempt from Vegata. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Alves is looking for a sweep. Vegata is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Vegata uses his free foot to push down on Alves's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Alves. Vegata working for a guillotine from mount but Alves is in no mood to give up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Antonio Vegata dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Alves throws the left hand but Vegata avoids the punch easily. Vegata gets a double leg takedown into Alves's guard. Antonio Vegata has got the better of the ground game so far. Vegata controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Vegata won't allow Alves to sweep him here. Vegata pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Alves is keeping the position for now. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Vegata trying to control but Alves is working from the bottom. Alves avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Alves has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

That's one minute gone in the round. Vegata looks to land a right hand but Alves moved out of range. Vegata scores with a nice head shot. Antonio Vegata seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Alves looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Vegata tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Alves swivels and escapes. Vegata scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Vegata throws a looping overhand right but Alves ducks down to avoid it. Alves throws a right hand that Vegata ducks under and follows up with a left that Vegata also avoids with ease. Alves avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Alves lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Vegata circles away quickly and effectively. Alves takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Alves misses with a hook. Vegata ducked under it nicely.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A slow jab from Vegata misses its intended target. Vegata throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Alves sees it coming and avoids it easily. Nice defenses there by Alves. Alves misses with a double jab
letting Vegata counter with a right hand. Alves misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Alves misses with a wild body shot. Alves lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Vegata circles away quickly and effectively. Alves tries to move into range but Vegata moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. This has been an exciting period of action! Vegata looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Alves is fending him off so far but Vegata persists. Nope, Alves circles away and we're back to standing. Vegata throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Alves throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Vegata shoots in but Alves avoids the takedown attempt easily. Freddy Alves has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Antonio Vegata.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Vegata shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Vegata showed some decent athleticism there. Vegata controlling the action here. Alves is trying to maintain the position but Vegata is very close to passing his half guard. Alves is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Vegata is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Alves regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Vegata. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Alves holds on and takes a little breather. Alves is trying to control the position but Vegata postures up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
We're going to have a standup here because Freddy Alves wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Horrible takedown by Vegata or perhaps it was just good defense by Alves which made him look bad. Vegata scores with a shot to the body.
Vegata lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Alves circles away quickly and effectively. Vegata throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Alves stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Vegata looks to land a left hand but Alves moved out of range nicely. Vegata moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Alves misses with a jab, cross combination.
Vegata fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Alves misses with the combination.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Vegata shoots in and drives through. Alves sprawls well. Alves misses with a series of wild punches.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Antonio Vegata showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!
Alves takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Vegata might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. Vegata looking to score a takedown here. Alves is defending well but Vegata drives through and ends up in Alves's guard. Alves lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Vegata! Alves raining down hammerfists from mount. Alves connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
It looks like Antonio Vegata has been cut. This has been an exciting period of action! Vegata regains half guard. Vegata is refusing to be controlled, as Alves sits in half guard. Alves not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
That's one minute gone in the round. Vegata wants to improve his position but Alves is controlling well.
Alves is figuring out what he wants to do next. Vegata tries to roll over but Alves keeps him under control. Vegata manages to get to full guard.
Alves is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Alves throws a big elbow that misses.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Alves throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Vegata works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Alves won't allow Vegata to sweep him here. Vegata is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Vegata is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Vegata controls Alves momentarily but Alves frees himself. Alves loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Alves trying to control the position from guard on top but Vegata is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Alves throws a lazy right hand but Vegata sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Freddy Alves has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Alves looks to land a right hand but Vegata moved out of range. Alves throws a low kick but Vegata moves out of range easily. Some wild striking there from Alves.
Vegata closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Alves's guard. Vegata trying to control but Alves is working from the bottom. Alves tries to land a sweep but no joy. Vegata missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Alves throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Vegata throws an elbow that misses. Alves uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Vegata's guard. Nice move by Alves! Alves postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Alves accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Vegata controlling Alves's posture. This has been an exciting period of action! Alves lands a couple of decent looking shots. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Alves with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Alves working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Alves loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
And that's the end of the fight! Freddy Alves showed his dominance in that final round. Well Vegata has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
