The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barclay throws an uppercut from half a mile away. McGregor sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Barclay lands an overhand right.
McGregor throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Barclay.
The fighters circle momentarily. Barclay darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Nice uppercut there from Barclay.

McGregor drops Barclay with a right and a left! McGregor comes rushing in but Barclay regains his composure and manages to keep McGregor in guard.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

McGregor drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Barclay manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now McGregor has Barclay in his guard.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as McGregor holds on and takes a little breather.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Livingston Barclay wasn't doing enough on the ground.
McGregor tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.

McGregor lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Barclay sprawling to the canvas. McGregor follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Barclay hang on?
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
