The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rosario fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Nice takedown defense from McCarthy. No joy for Rosario on that attempt.
McCarthy tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

and Rosario counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
McCarthy wants to take the fight to the mat but Rosario manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

McCarthy wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Rosario manages to pass to side control.
Rosario seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
McCarthy is trying to control but Rosario manages to pass to mount!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rosario is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. McCarthy can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Rosario has control of McCarthy's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and McCarthy regains control of the situation pretty easily.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
McCarthy is trying to stand but he's not in a good position to be doing that! Rosario has taken his back!

Rosario advances position into side control!
Rosario has hold of McCarthy's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! McCarthy tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Rosario cranks the arm and McCarthy screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from McCarthy, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
