The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
USpec misses with a series of wild punches.
Ponzinibbio lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but USpec circles away quickly and effectively.
Ponzinibbio misses with a few strikes there.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from USpec.
USpec shoots in for a takedown but Ponzinibbio shows good takedown defense.
Ponzinibbio throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
USpec feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Ponzinibbio has his feet on USpec's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
USpec is breathing heavily.
Ponzinibbio misses with a double jab
and USpec counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

USpec thows a huge punch but Ponzinibbio dodges it nicely.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ponzinibbio is trying to stand up here but USpec is controlling him well.
USpec is trying to work for a kimura but Ponzinibbio is defending well.
Ponzinibbio tries to kick USpec off but USpec keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

USpec is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
USpec has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
USpec is looking for a kimura but Ponzinibbio is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for USpec to get the leverage.
Ponzinibbio tries to kick USpec off but USpec keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
USpec slows the pace down in half guard.
USpec is pressing down on Ponzinibbio's thigh, looking to free his foot. Ponzinibbio is holding on for now.
Ponzinibbio looks like he's trying to stand up.
USpec has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Ponzinibbio defend it? USpec steps over the head and cranks it - Ponzinibbio is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for USpec!
