Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jason Slade (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Macklin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). David Macklin is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jason Slade! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, David Macklin! The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, John Mangel and Steve Erwin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Slade connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Macklin has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. Slade shoots in for a double leg but Macklin sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Macklin moves forwards but Slade connects with a nice, crisp jab. Macklin defending well as Slade loads up on a big left hand. Slade fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Macklin manages to avoid it. Slade throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Macklin on the side of the head. Macklin misses with the combination.
A big right from Slade misses. No luck for Macklin with that takedown attempt. Slade slips a jab and a cross from Macklin.

and Slade counters with a left and a right that stings Macklin. Macklin moves in looking to clinch but Slade pushes him off. Jason Slade seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A slow jab from Macklin misses its intended target. Slade misses with a straight right. Macklin tries to clinch but Slade is having none of it. Macklin wants to clinch. Donk. Slade catches Macklin right on the button with a cross. Macklin drives through and clinches with Slade against the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Slade goes for a takedown in the clinch but Macklin prevents it.
Slade manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Slade working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Macklin has passed into half guard!
Slade is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Macklin pulls his head out easily. Slade looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Slade actively working from the bottom here. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Slade looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Macklin scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Slade looking for submissions off his back. Macklin trying to mount his opponent but Slade defends it. Slade manages to get to full guard.
Macklin avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Slade throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Slade is breathing heavily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Slade escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Macklin gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Slade has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Macklin has passed into side control.
Macklin trying to control the position but Slade is working away. Slade is trying to improve his position. Slade regains half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Slade moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Slade wants to sweep but no luck. Macklin must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Macklin scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Slade isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Macklin stacks Slade on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Macklin! Slade looks to move to half guard but instead Macklin has passed into mount! Damn! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Macklin controlling the pace for now. Slade regains half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jason Slade dominated that round. That's time! Slade's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Macklin takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Slade scores with a one two! Macklin had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. Macklin takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Macklin has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Slade finds it's way round the side to connect with Macklin's head. Slade takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Slade scores with a sloppy right hand. Macklin should have avoided that one. Macklin looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Slade working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Macklin doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Macklin manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Slade is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Slade has his foot on Macklin's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Macklin works his way back into a safe position though.

Slade had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Macklin is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Slade Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Macklin's back instead. Macklin tries to break free.
The referee is taking a good look at Macklin as he is on the wrong end of some big shots from Slade!
Slade looking for the choke from the back. Slade is looking for the choke from the back position but Macklin is controlling his hands well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Slade is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Macklin has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here. Slade doesn't have the hooks in and Macklin manages to turn into his guard.
Macklin has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Slade is proving hard to escape from. Macklin preventing the sweep. Slade has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Macklin doesn't defend quickly enough and Slade has managed to lock this one up! Can Macklin escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Slade on a fantastic submission victory.
