The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Duff moves out of range of the body kick from Gerrard.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Duff.
Gerrard displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Duff.
Duff closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Gerrard bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Duff's guard.

Gerrard throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Duff's waist but Duff gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gerrard off to one side.
Gerrard drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Gerrard is nestled in close to Duff, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Gerrard sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Duff's guard.

Duff tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Gerrard manages to move to mount!

Donald Duff is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
