PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Danny Tatko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and King Bass (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tatko's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, no Music. Danny Tatko looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Danny Tatko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, King Bass!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Steve Smith and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tatko takes the fight into the clinch.
Bass looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Bass jumps into guard, dragging Tatko to the mat.
Tatko showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Tatko tries to free his leg and advance position but Bass is retaining full guard.
Bass should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Bass controls Tatko momentarily but Tatko frees himself.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tatko trying to control but Bass is working from the bottom.
Tatko wanted to stand there but Bass had control of the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Bass can't keep his opponent in guard - Tatko advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Tatko will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Tatko looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Bass works his way to full guard. Good work.
Bass is trying to control the position but Tatko postures up.

Tatko wants to stand but Bass has his arm trapped.
Bass tries to improve position but can't.
Bass takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

The referee asks Tatko politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Tatko prefers to stall for the moment though.
Tatko seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Bass for as long as he can get away with.

Tatko decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Tatko closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Tatko wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Bass, who protects the arm well.
Bass tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Tatko wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
A control attempt from Bass but he's now mounted!
Tatko has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Bass's face.

Tatko stands up from mount. Strange move.
Tatko shoots in but Bass avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Tatko looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Tatko tries to clinch up but Bass circles away and keeps his distance.
Bass has his takedown stuffed
and Tatko counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Tatko tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Bass swivels and escapes.
Tatko tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
No luck for Tatko with that takedown attempt.
Tatko doesn't manage to clinch there - Bass circles away.

Bass passes Tatko's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Bass wants to take a breather but Tatko is having none of it.
Tatko wants to control but Bass is keeping busy.
Tatko controlling the position for now.
Tatko works his way to full guard. Good work.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Bass drops back, looking for a kneebar! Tatko looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Tatko looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Tatko!

Bass manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Tatko throwing shots but Bass is blocking nicely.

Bass is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Tatko is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Tatko is tying to control. Bass wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Tatko seems to be working for a kimura but Bass defends the submission attempt.
Tatko tries to pass the half guard into mount. Bass knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Tatko with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Tatko tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Bass counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Tatko's guard now.

Bass stands and throws Tatko's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Tatko wants to control but Bass postures up.
Tatko tries to improve position but can't.

Bass is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Tatko is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Tatko is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Bass's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

King Bass showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

and Bass counters with a low kick, right behind Tatko 's knee.

and Bass decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Tatko's guard.

Tatko has his foot on Bass's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Bass works his way back into a safe position though.
Bass pushes down on Tatko's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Tatko wants to get back to full guard.
Bass passes to side control.
Tatko gets back to half guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Tatko is trying to control but can't.

Tatko manages to get to full guard.

Tatko is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Tatko is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Tatko wants to sweep but no luck.

Bass thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Bass has eaten all the pies!

Tatko looking for a guillotine here but Bass defends easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bass works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Danny Tatko overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Bass trying to control from half guard but Tatko is working away.

Tatko pushes Bass off and gets back to his feet.
Tatko throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Tatko looks to move to half guard but instead Bass has passed into mount! Damn!

Bass is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Tatko has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Tatko slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Bass wants to lay and pray for a moment but Tatko keeps working.
Tatko makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Tatko.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to King Bass.
I think Bass has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
