Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Arthur Fonzarelli (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Lakanik (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fonzarelli comes to the cage accompanied by Eminem - When I'm Gone. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Arthur Fonzarelli!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Lakanik!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Chad Campbell and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lakanik drives through and clinches with Fonzarelli against the cage.

Lakanik manages to break the clinch.

Lakanik clinches up with Fonzarelli and pushes him back against the cage.
Lakanik blocking some punches.
Fonzarelli tries to pull guard but Lakanik won't allow it.

Fonzarelli breaks from the clinch.
Fonzarelli looks to clinch
and Lakanik counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Lakanik throws a sloppy head kick and Fonzarelli moves out of range easily.
Fonzarelli scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Lakanik misses with a takedown attempt - Fonzarelli sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Fonzarelli moves to clinch but Lakanik breaks away
and Lakanik counters with an inside leg kick.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Lakanik tries to clinch but Fonzarelli is having none of it.
Fonzarelli stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Fonzarelli wants it to stay on the feet.
Lakanik circles away from the clinch attempt.
Fonzarelli swats away the attempt to clinch by Lakanik.
Fonzarelli doesn't manage to clinch there - Lakanik circles away.

Fonzarelli has managed to clinch.
Lakanik misses with an elbow over the top.

Fonzarelli gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Lakanik counters with a nice kick to the body.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Fonzarelli checks a leg kick.
Lakanik tries to clinch but Fonzarelli moves out of range.
Lakanik loads up on a big right hand but Fonzarelli slips the punch.
Fonzarelli cracks Lakanik with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Lakanik tries for a takedown but Fonzarelli sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Arthur Fonzarelli has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Lakanik.
Fonzarelli throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Lakanik works Fonzarelli's body with a nice hook.
Lakanik throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Lakanik takes a swing at Fonzarelli's ribcage but misses.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Fonzarelli shoots in looking for a takedown. Lakanik tries to sprawl out of it but Fonzarelli keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Lakanik manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Fonzarelli fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Fonzarelli lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Lakanik feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Fonzarelli's calf.
Lakanik throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Fonzarelli gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Lakanik.

Lakanik feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Lakanik working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Fonzarelli's head.
Lakanik must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Fonzarelli working for a triangle but Lakanik defends it easily.

Lakanik not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Fonzarelli throwing strikes off his back to little effect.

Fonzarelli is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Lakanik has his hands clasped together but Fonzarelli extends and breaks Lakanik's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Fonzarelli.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Arthur Fonzarelli!
Arthur Fonzarelli was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
