0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Juaquin Bordado! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Hirohito Nitta and Yukihiro Yamamoto.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bordado wants to clinch. Bordado pushes Smith away with a front kick. Bordado pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Smith back to the cage. Bordado follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver. Juaquin Bordado seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Bordado rushes Smith and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Bordado creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Smith's defenses. Bordado connects with a nasty looking knee right to Smith's face.
Bordado lands an elbow inside that Smith shrugs off. Bordado taking a breather. The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows. Bordado is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Smith wants a takedown but no success here.

Bordado is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Smith is keeping busy. Smith wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

A nice glancing elbow lands by Bordado. Smith tries to pull guard but Bordado forces him back to his feet, against the cage. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Bordado scores a nice knee to the body.

Smith drops down looking for an ankle pick but Bordado pulls his leg out and moves away.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Bordado bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick. Bordado lands a high kick!
Bordado looks winded! Bordado throws a series of punches but Smith moves out of range. Bordado has taken the fight to the clinch.
Bordado misses with a knee strike.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Smith wants to stall.
Smith is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Bordado is defending well. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Juaquin Bordado dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Bordado tries to close the distance and clinch up but Smith swats him away and circles back towards the center. Smith closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Smith thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Smith trying to control the action but Bordado is working from the bottom. Smith staying calm. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Smith in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Bordado is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
