The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wingell tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Monacizzo was well out of range. Poor timing from Wingell.
Wingell misses with the combination.
Wingell looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Wingell throws a leg kick but Monacizzo sees it coming and moves out of range.
Wingell throws a right hand that Monacizzo ducks under and follows up with a left that Monacizzo also avoids with ease.
Monacizzo rushes Wingell and presses him up against the cage.
Monacizzo is trying to trip Wingell. He has hold of a leg but Wingell is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Monacizzo persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Monacizzo stops Wingell from standing up.
Monacizzo throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Wingell works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Monacizzo postures up in Wingell's guard and throws a big left but Wingell blocks it.
Monacizzo stops Wingell from standing up.
Monacizzo advances position into side control!

Wingell wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Wingell trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Wingell takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Monacizzo working the ground and pound.
Monacizzo in side control lands a decent elbow.
Wingell is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Monacizzo asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Monacizzo scores with a couple of short elbows.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Wingell is pushing Monacizzo's head away, looking to escape. Monacizzo manages to hold on to the position though.
Monacizzo is working Wingell over with some ground and pound from side control.
Wingell is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Wingell takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Wingell is rocked!
Monacizzo scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Wingell is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Monacizzo can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!
