PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Zatoichi Killman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andre Torres (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Zatoichi Killman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Andre Torres!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Torres gets tackled into the cage by Killman. Killman maintains the clinch.

Torres decides to pull guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Killman has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Torres is proving hard to escape from.
Torres wants to sweep here but Killman controlling him for the moment.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Torres can do anything to dispel that myth.
Torres doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Killman wants to pass the guard but Torres is keeping the position.
Killman trying to control but Torres is working from the bottom.
Torres seems keen to control Killman's posture.
Torres is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Killman wants to pass the guard but Torres is keeping the position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Torres throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Killman tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Torres is in Killman's guard.
Torres is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Killman is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Torres connects with a couple of short punches.
Killman looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Torres tries to free his leg and advance position but Killman is retaining full guard.

Torres postures up.
Torres trying to stand up but can't free himself from Killman's guard.

Killman working for submissions but it's allowed Torres to get to half guard.
Torres tries to stand but can't do so whilst Killman controls his leg.
Torres winds up and cracks Killman with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Killman strikes from the bottom but Torres passes into mount!
Killman could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Killman is looking to improve his position but Torres isn't that keen on the idea.
Torres takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Killman wants to control but Torres is having none of it.
Torres with shots to the head and body - Killman looks very uncomfortable down there.
Killman is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Killman is breathing heavily.
Torres controlling his opponent.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Torres is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Killman can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Torres tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Killman paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Torres shoots in but Killman avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Good work by Killman as he checks the leg kick.
Killman shoots in for a takedown but Torres shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Torres tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Killman swivels and escapes.

Torres gets a double leg takedown into Killman's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Killman tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Torres works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Killman is trying to control but can't.
Killman has hold of Torres's hands but Torres slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Torres sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Torres looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Torres drops an elbow to the side of Killman's head.
Torres missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Torres content to control rather than advance.
Killman is trying to control but Torres passes into side control!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

You can see the frustration on Killman's face as Torres controls the position.
Torres scores with punches from side control.
Torres tries to advance to mount but can't.
Torres working the head with strikes.
Torres tries to stand but Killman is controlling his head.

Torres controls the position from side control.

Torres is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Killman knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Torres looks up at the clock and then as Killman takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Torres smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Torres creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Killman sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Torres controlling the position.
Torres tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Torres works to advance to full mount. Killman defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Killman is trying to reverse the position but instead Torres has taken his back - oops!
Killman is really stuck here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Andre Torres showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


Killman tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Torres manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Torres misses with a jab, cross combination.

Torres gets caught flat footed, as Killman shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Killman stands up from Torres's guard - Killman perhaps looking for a knockout.

Torres shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Torres slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Torres takes a little break here. Killman wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Killman is not content to let Torres control the position.
Torres is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Torres wants to stand but Killman has his arm trapped.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Andre Torres.
Killman slaps away a takedown attempt from Torres, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Torres tries to clinch there but Killman circles away.
Torres swats away the attempt to clinch by Killman.
Killman shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Torres as he avoids it easily.
Killman tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Killman defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Torres.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Torres jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Killman walks away with a smile on his face. Torres gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Zatoichi Killman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andre Torres.
Killman pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Torres back to the cage. Killman follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Zatoichi Killman is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Killman shoots in for a takedown but Torres shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Killman gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Torres counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Torres sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Killman's guard.
Killman is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Torres scores with a couple of nice shots.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Torres content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Andre Torres has got the better of the ground game so far.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Torres tries to stand and escape but Killman actually recovers to full guard.
Torres is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Torres stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Killman swivels though and keeps the full guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Andre Torres comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Torres winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
