The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Volkov throws a low kick, looking for Tatsuya's leg but Tatsuya calmly moves out of range.
Tatsuya looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Tatsuya connects with a right hand. Volkov shakes it off.
Tatsuya bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Volkov moves out of range as Tatsuya strikes.

Tatsuya lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Tatsuya throws a right and a left that Volkov avoids nicely.

Volkov tries for a takedown but Tatsuya sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Volkov jabs Tatsuya right on the nose. Tatsuya blinks but takes it well.

Volkov slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Volkov is trying to get an arm triangle but Tatsuya is defending well.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Tatsuya controls the position for a moment.
Tatsuya is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Volkov looks up at the clock and then as Tatsuya takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Volkov smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Volkov misses with a double jab.
Volkov drops his hands momentarily and Tatsuya takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Volkov feints a jab promting Tatsuya to slip. Volkov then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Tatsuya slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Volkov looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Ryuu Tatsuya seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Volkov rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Tatsuya moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Tatsuya throws a jab when Volkov was well out of range.
The fight stays on the outside here - Tatsuya looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Volkov throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Volkov is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Tatsuya.
Tatsuya throws a right hand that Volkov ducks under and follows up with a left that Volkov also avoids with ease.
Tatsuya is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

Tatsuya throws a left that rocks Volkov and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Tatsuya dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Volkov regain composure!
Volkov is still in real trouble! Can Tatsuya finish him?
Volkov has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Tatsuya wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Volkov, who protects the arm well.

Tatsuya decides to stand back up.
Volkov shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Volkov shoots for a takedown but Tatsuya saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Volkov moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Tatsuya tries to close the distance and clinch up but Volkov swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Volkov throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Volkov stalks Tatsuya and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Tatsuya's face. Tatsuya staggers backwards, shaken.

letting Volkov counter with a right hand.
Horrible takedown by Volkov or perhaps it was just good defense by Tatsuya which made him look bad.

Tatsuya lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Volkov circles away quickly and effectively.

Tatsuya is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Volkov is defending well for now.

Tatsuya stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Volkov swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Tatsuya has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Volkov is proving hard to escape from.
Volkov is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ryuu Tatsuya has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Tatsuya keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Ryuu Tatsuya is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Volkov fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Volkov tries to pull guard but Tatsuya won't allow it.
Volkov takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Tatsuya takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Tatsuya can't find room to land a body shot as Volkov controls the action.
