Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hps Sousa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mirko Raymore Ardona (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sousa throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Ardona counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Sousa shoots in for a double leg but Ardona sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Sousa misses with a takedown attempt
and Ardona counters with a good, hard body kick but Sousa shrugs it off.
Ardona misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Sousa shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Ardona defends it nicely.

Ardona moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Sousa tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Ardona swivels and escapes.

Both fighters circling a little - Ardona finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.

Ardona goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Ardona is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Sousa had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Sousa closes the distance and clinches up with Ardona, looking for a takedown. Sousa pushes Ardona against the cage but Ardona circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Sousa looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Ardona is fending him off so far but Sousa persists. Nope, Ardona circles away and we're back to standing.
Ardona shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Sousa eats them both and turns towards Ardona to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Sousa throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Ardona's waist but Ardona gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Sousa off to one side.

Hps Sousa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Ardona moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Sousa will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Ardona bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Sousa's head backwards.

Ardona has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Ardona stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Ardona wants it to stay on the feet.

This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Sousa. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

and Ardona counters with a solid body kick.

Mirko Raymore Ardona is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Ardona throws a front kick that sends Sousa stumbling back into the cage.
This entire fight has taken place on the feet so far and you wonder whether Sousa might be better served trying to take this one to the ground because he's losing the standup battle so far.
Ardona cracks Sousa with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

Sousa shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Ardona but Ardona pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Sousa sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

Ardona tries to bum rush Sousa with a series of wild strikes but Sousa uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Sousa closes the distance and clinches up with Ardona, looking for a takedown. Sousa pushes Ardona against the cage but Ardona circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
A combination from Ardona does no damage.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Hps Sousa has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Mirko Raymore Ardona is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
