The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sandoval circles away from the clinch attempt.

Cooper is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Sandoval swats away the attempt to clinch by Cooper. Cooper shoots in and drives through. Sandoval sprawls well. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Cooper tries to close the distance and clinch up but Sandoval swats him away and circles back towards the center. Cooper shoots in looking for a takedown. Sandoval tries to sprawl out of it but Cooper keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Sandoval manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Cooper thows a left - swing and a miss! Sandoval bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Sandoval moves out of range of the strikes.

Cooper looks to throw the jab but Sandoval is out of range. Cooper shoots in and bounces Sandoval off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Cooper working some strikes from top position. Cooper closes the distance and clinches up with Sandoval, looking for a takedown. Cooper pushes Sandoval against the cage but Sandoval circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Cooper stops Sandoval from standing up. Cooper engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Cooper wants to get up but he can't break Sandoval's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Cooper controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

We're going to have a standup here because Riley Cooper wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Cooper tries to clinch and Sandoval counters with a stiff right hand. Cooper fails to land the takedown. Sandoval keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Cooper doesn't manage to clinch there - Sandoval circles away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Cooper is looking to clinch. Cooper fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Sandoval is out of range. Cooper tries to clinch there but Sandoval circles away.
Cooper feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Cooper postures up.
Sandoval really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cooper. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Sandoval wants to sweep but no luck. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cooper tries to close the distance and clinch up but Sandoval swats him away and circles back towards the center. Cooper throws a shot from downtown. Sandoval moves away and avoids it. Cooper swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Cooper wants to clinch up but Sandoval keeps it at a distance.

No joy for Cooper on that attempt. Riley Cooper is winning the standup battle so far. Cooper tries to clinch up but Sandoval circles away and keeps his distance. Cooper throws a wild body kick that Sandoval sees coming a mile off. Cooper swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Cooper shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Sandoval's guard. Sandoval looking to control.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Cooper forces his way into half guard. Cooper seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Sandoval is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
