Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Tarja Halkonen and Johanna Lukiainen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Scatman gets a takedown into half guard.
Jaaskelainen is trying to stand up here but Scatman is controlling him well.
Jaaskelainen knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Scatman on the ground.
Scatman trying to work for an americana but Jaaskelainen has managed to regain full guard.

Scatman wants to pass the guard but Jaaskelainen is keeping the position.
Scatman postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Jaaskelainen is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Scatman, into his guard.

Jaaskelainen would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Scatman escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Jaaskelainen gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Jaaskelainen wanted to stand there but Scatman had control of the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Scatman has his foot on Jaaskelainen's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Jaaskelainen works his way back into a safe position though.
Jaaskelainen wants to get up but he can't break Scatman's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Scatman is looking to sweep but instead, Jaaskelainen has passed into half guard.
Jaaskelainen will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Scatman is staying active underneath Jaaskelainen, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Scatman is looking to improve his position.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Scatman shoots in but no luck this time.
Jaaskelainen throws a head kick but Scatman moves out of range.
Jaaskelainen shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Scatman tries to reverse the position but Jaaskelainen maintains control.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Jaaskelainen takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Jaaskelainen seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Scatman for as long as he can get away with.
Scatman manages to regain half guard. Good work.

Scatman wants to hit a switch here but Jaaskelainen passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Scatman there!

Scatman manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Scatman is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Jaaskelainen still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Jaaskelainen has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Scatman manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Scatman tries to roll over but Jaaskelainen keeps him under control.
Jaaskelainen is taking a breather. Scatman says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Jaaskelainen winds up and cracks Scatman with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Well, if Jaaskelainen is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Jaaskelainen stands up and beckons Scatman to join him on the feet.
Scatman walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Jaaskelainen tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Scatman takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Jaaskelainen comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Scatman has his takedown stuffed
and Jaaskelainen counters by moving into the clinch.
Jaaskelainen trying to stall but Scatman improves his position.
Jaaskelainen wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Scatman tries to pull guard but Jaaskelainen holds him up against the cage and eventually Scatman drops back down to his feet.
Jaaskelainen manages to break the clinch.
Scatman has his takedown stuffed
and Jaaskelainen counters with a head kick.
Heikki Jaaskelainen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Scatman.

Scatman takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
