Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Sepp Maier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roland Deschain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Maier might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Apaga mas não bate. Deschain has chosen Giving In-- As made famous by Adema as his entrance music. Roland Deschain acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 34 - 23 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sepp Maier!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 28 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Roland Deschain!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Frank Dennis and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Maier closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Maier lands in his opponent's guard.

Maier stands up over Deschain, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Deschain has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Maier is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Deschain.

Maier postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Deschain is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Maier, into his guard.
Maier will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Maier looking to hit a scissor sweep but Deschain is one step ahead there.
Deschain sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Maier's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Deschain trying to control the action but Maier is working from the bottom.
Deschain perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Maier misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Maier tries to get to full guard but Deschain has control of the leg.
Deschain is nestled in close to Maier, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Deschain is keen to just control but Maier is a slippery customer.
Deschain takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Maier is trying desperately to improve position.
Maier is in a horrible position here. Deschain smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Deschain seems to be looking for submissions.
Maier makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Maier.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Maier escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Deschain gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Roland Deschain will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Deschain working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Maier doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Maier manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Deschain working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Maier doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Maier manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Maier tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Maier has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Deschain tries to control but Maier manages to take his back.

Deschain defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Maier's arms.

Maier has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Maier has the hooks in. Deschain is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Maier is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Deschain is in a bad position with Maier working for a choke. Deschain manages to spin nicely into guard and the danger is over for the moment.

Deschain is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Deschain working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Maier's head.
Maier thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Maier is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Deschain defends well.

That was a close second round but I would say that Sepp Maier will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. And we move into the final round!

Maier is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Sepp Maier.
Well Maier has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
