PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Joey Cooper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ignas Barysas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ignas Barysas told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Ignas Barysas!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Patrick Alders and Daniel Blasius.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barysas takes a jab right on the kisser.
Cooper moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Barysas walks into a left hand.
Cooper slips under a jab.
Cooper lands a leg kick that knocks Barysas off balance momentarily.
Barysas tries a head kick but it misses.
Cooper moves out of range as Barysas strikes.
Cooper rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Barysas moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Barysas takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Barysas misses with a head kick.
Barysas tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Barysas throws a head kick that misses.
Barysas takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Cooper takes the fight into the clinch.
Cooper lands a left hand that snaps the head of Barysas backwards.
Cooper scores with a knee to the head.
Barysas wants to break the clinch but can't.

Cooper breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Cooper gets a clinch.
Barysas has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Barysas is trying to break the clinch but Cooper has him pressed against the cage.
Cooper tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Barysas tries to circle away but Cooper has him pinned against the cage.
Cooper using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Barysas has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Cooper breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Cooper connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Barysas's hands.
Cooper lands a right hook to the body.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
A combination from Barysas does no damage.

Cooper moves into range and clinches up with Barysas.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Cooper's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Cooper clinches up with Barysas and pushes him back against the cage.
A bit of stalling here from Cooper.
Barysas wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Barysas tries to break free but Cooper pushes him back against the cage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Cooper working the clinch nicely. Barysas is working for position but Cooper cracks him with a big knee to the head! Barysas crumples up against the cage and Cooper lands two more shots before the ref can save Barysas! This one is all over!
