Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Sergei Patrushev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rob McKenzie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McKenzie has chosen Flower Of Scotland as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the ring.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Sergei Patrushev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Rob McKenzie!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Paul Aken and Paulsen Ambrosius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McKenzie thows a left - swing and a miss!
McKenzie feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Patrushevs jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Patrushev gets caught flat footed, as McKenzie shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as McKenzie accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
McKenzie is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
McKenzie must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Patrushev working for a triangle but McKenzie defends it easily.

Patrushev is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and McKenzie defends well.
This has been an exciting period of action!
McKenzie throwing strikes but missing.

Patrushev isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. McKenzie stacks Patrushev on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by McKenzie!
McKenzie scores with a couple of short elbows.
Patrushev gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Patrushev is trying to get back to full guard.
Patrushev is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute McKenzie jumps into side control!
Patrushev is not content to let McKenzie control the position.
Patrushev is trying to improve his position.
Patrushev gets back to half guard.
Patrushev is pressing down on McKenzie's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells McKenzie's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
McKenzie postures up and lands a big shot to Patrushev's brow.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

McKenzie lands a couple of elbows.

Patrushev has his foot on McKenzie's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. McKenzie works his way back into a safe position though.
McKenzie cracks Patrushev with a solid left hand.

McKenzie got a little sloppy there for a moment and Patrushev has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, McKenzie has managed to get both his arms back between Patrushev's legs - danger averted.

Patrushev looking to hit a scissor sweep but McKenzie is one step ahead there.

Patrushev working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. McKenzie doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. McKenzie manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Patrushev is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

McKenzie makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
McKenzie lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
McKenzie lands a couple of decent looking shots.
McKenzie trying to control the position from guard on top but Patrushev is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells McKenzie's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
McKenzie distracts Patrushev with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.


Patrushev is rocked!

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Patrushev is not content to let McKenzie control the position.
McKenzie working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Oh Patrushev is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
McKenzie in side control here. He's dropped a big elbow there and Patrushev looks hurt! Oh, he is hurt! McKenzie turns on the heat and pounds him out for a TKO victory! Good killer instinct there!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Rob McKenzie!
An out of breath Rob McKenzie thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
