Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Great Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tyson Pain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Great Smith! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tyson Pain! The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Donatello Bradman and Damien Edna.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pain looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Smith is fending him off so far but Pain persists. Nope, Smith circles away and we're back to standing. Pain fails with the takedown and Smith decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Pain's guard. Smith working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Pain has his foot on Smith's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Smith works his way back into a safe position though. Smith is working Pain over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Pain had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Smith defends it easily. Smith with a nice head shot there. Smith drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Pain manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Smith has Pain in his guard. Pain trying to control the position from guard on top but Smith is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Smith trying to keep a closed guard but Pain is proving a slippery customer.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pain tries to free his leg and advance position but Smith is retaining full guard. Smith looking to control.
Smith preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Pain wants to control from the top but Smith keeps moving. Pain sitting in guard, not really doing much. Smith might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Pain drives through with a takedown into guard. Smith keeping moving, preventing Pain from controlling successfully. Pain is pushing down on Smith's leg trying to pass to half guard. Smith is fighting to maintain full guard but Pain has managed to sneak the leg through. Smith tries to get to full guard but Pain has control of the leg. Pain wants to lay and pray for a moment but Smith keeps working. Pain throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Smith is looking to control Pain's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Smith avoid being mounted? Pain wants to work for an arm triangle but Smith is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Pain is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Pain missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Pain is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Smith! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Poor strikes thrown by Pain there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Smith is controlling an arm, preventing Pain from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
Pain tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Pain wants to take his opponent's back but he's not managed it. Pain moves to the back position. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Pain is persistently looking for the submission but Smith is defending it well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Tyson Pain dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Pain shoots in but Smith avoids the takedown attempt easily. Pain fails with a takedown attempt. Pain with a poor takedown and Smith counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Great Smith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tyson Pain. Pain makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Pain. Smith with a flurry of punches that miss. Smith throwing strikes but missing. Pain preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Smith cracks Pain with a solid left hand. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Pain utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Pain is trying to keep Smith in close.
Smith got a little sloppy there for a moment and Pain has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Smith has managed to get both his arms back between Pain's legs - danger averted.
That's one minute gone in the round. Smith preventing the sweep. Smith stands up over Pain, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Pain is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Smith frees his head nicely. Oh but Pain has switched to an armbar! Smith is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
