Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Matt Sampson! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ivan Reitman! The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Skip Squint and Eliza Hachem.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sampson closes the distance and clinches. Sampson has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Reitman avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Sampson pulls Reitman into guard.
Sampson on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Sampson tries to get out of the position. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Reitman stands up from guard. Let's bang! Sampson tries to clinch up but Reitman circles away and keeps his distance. Sampson closes this distance looking for a takedown but Reitman circles away. Sampson moves into the clinch. Reitman prevents a takedown attempt there.

Sampson slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Reitman is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Nice strikes from Reitman there. This has been an exciting period of action! Sampson wants to get back to his feet. Reitman looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Reitman works his way into side control. Sampson tries to buck Reitman off but Reitman is having none of it. Reitman scores with punches from side control. Sampson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Reitman on the ground. Sampson is not in a great position here, taking some shots. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. This has been an exciting period of action! Sampson wants to get back to his feet but Reitman drags him back down. Sampson taking a bit of punishment here - Reitman scoring with strikes. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Sampson looking for a sweep but Reitman has passed into full mount! Oh no! Sampson is wriggling around trying to escape.

Reitman misses with a wild body shot. Sampson moves in looking to clinch but Reitman pushes him off. Sampson tries to close the distance and clinch up but Reitman swats him away and circles back towards the center. Sampson wants to clinch up but Reitman keeps it at a distance. Reitman is putting a hurting on Sampson here, landing some big shots from side control. Reitman goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Sampson rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Reitman's guard! Nice work there by Sampson! Sampson pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Reitman is keeping the position for now. Sampson is looking to pass into half guard but Reitman pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Reitman is in guard. Sampson is looking to sweep but instead, Reitman has passed into half guard.

Reitman is looking to take a break and control but Sampson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Ground and pound from Reitman.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sampson controlling the position for now. Reitman has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Reitman lands a big elbow. Sampson is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Reitman landing shots from mount. Reitman won't let Sampson get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now. Reitman lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Reitman is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Sampson is forced to tap! Great finish!

Ivan Reitman decided to call for a title shot in his post fight interview, which was very strange given the fact this fight was for a title and he's already the champion. I guess that's what getting punched in the head does for you.
