Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mac Jonson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Myke Hawk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mac Jonson has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Mac Jonson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Myke Hawk!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Paul Tew and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jonson misses with a jab, cross combination.
Hawk misses with a few strikes there.
Jonson throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Hawk.

Hawk looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Jonson pulls Hawk in close to prevent any damage.
Jonson looking to hit a scissor sweep but Hawk is one step ahead there.
Hawk really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jonson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Jonson is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Jonson is pressed up against the cage. Hawk has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Jonson down to the mat. Jonson avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Hawk wants to get back to his feet but Jonson is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Jonson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Jonson would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Good leg kick by Hawk there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Jonson tries to clinch up but Hawk circles away and keeps his distance.

Hawk gets caught flat footed, as Jonson shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Jonson is looking to work some ground and pound but Hawk has wrist control.

Hawk is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

Jonson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Hawk tries to close the distance and clinch but Jonson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Hawk breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
A head kick misses from Hawk.
Hawk lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Horrible takedown by Jonson or perhaps it was just good defense by Hawk which made him look bad.

Jonson closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Hawk wants to get back to his feet.
Hawk is not content to let Jonson control the position.

Jonson seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Jonson stands up and waves to Hawk to follow him.
Hawk plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Jonson fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Hawk is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Hawk tries for a takedown but Jonson sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Hawk closes the distance but Jonson moves to the side
and Jonson counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Hawk throws a head kick but Jonson moves out of range.
Jonson will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Jonson shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Hawk but Hawk pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mac Jonson. That's going to take a lot out of him.

That was a close second round but I would say that Mac Jonson will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Jonson wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Hawk, who protects the arm well.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jonson remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Jonson is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Hawk has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Jonson is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Hawk can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

And that's the end of the fight!
Mac Jonson showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Jonson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
