Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Renee Mondeux (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jon Haws (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mondeux's entrance music is Ronnie McCoury-Cajun Man. A fine choice. Haws has chosen To be the Best as his entrance music. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Renee Mondeux! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jon Haws! The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Damien Edna and John Mangel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A telegraphed takedown attempt from Mondeux is defended easily by Haws. Mondeux ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Haws moves away. Mondeux shoots in but Haws avoids the takedown attempt easily. Mondeux tries to score a power double leg takedown but Haws sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Mondeux somewhat. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Renee Mondeux. That's going to take a lot out of him. Mondeux thows a body shot but no joy. Haws tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Mondeux tries to score a power double leg takedown but Haws sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Mondeux somewhat. Mondeux fails with the takedown. Haws misses with a double jab.
Mondeux closes the distance and clinches up with Haws, looking for a takedown. Mondeux pushes Haws against the cage but Haws circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Mondeux fails with a takedown attempt. Mondeux digs a good body shot into Haws's ribs. Renee Mondeux seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mondeux checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Mondeux gets a takedown into half guard. Haws actively working from the bottom here. Haws is trying to get back to full guard. Mondeux frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Mondeux trying to control but Haws is having none of it. Mondeux scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Haws?
Haws takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Haws gets back to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. This has been an exciting period of action! Haws is looking to improve his position.
Haws is looking to control Mondeux's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Haws avoid being mounted? The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Haws holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now. Mondeux is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Mondeux winds up and cracks Haws with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Haws keeping control of the position. Haws wants to improve his position but Mondeux is controlling well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Haws controlling the position well. Haws wants to control but Mondeux is keeping busy and won't allow it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Haws is looking for a sweep. Mondeux is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Haws is staying active underneath Mondeux, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Haws taking some punishment here, with Mondeux in his half guard. Mondeux with the ground and pound but Haws uses the opportunity to regain guard. Haws escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Mondeux gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Haws has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Mondeux has passed into side control.
Mondeux working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Haws is trying to control Mondeux's posture but Mondeux avoids it. Haws tries to buck Mondeux off but Mondeux is having none of it. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Haws is not content to let Mondeux control the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Haws is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Mondeux is looking to take a break and control but Haws is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Haws tries to get back to half guard but can't. Haws sneaks back into half guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Mondeux is thwarting Haws's attempts to control the position. Mondeux lands strikes from half guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Mondeux scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Mondeux wants to stand up but Haws is controlling the position.
Mondeux trying to control the action but Haws is working from the bottom. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Renee Mondeux will probably get the nod. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Mondeux scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Haws moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. Mondeux fails with the takedown and Haws holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Haws misses with an elbow strike.
Mondeux has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Haws is trying to keep an underhook but Mondeux manages to get the takedown into half guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Haws looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Mondeux missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Mondeux moves into full mount! Haws won't be happy about that!
That's one minute gone in the round. Haws tries to reverse the position but Mondeux maintains control. Haws regains half guard. Mondeux is thwarting Haws's attempts to control the position. Renee Mondeux overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Mondeux trying to pass the guard but Haws defending well. Haws wants to get back to his feet. Mondeux looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Haws with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Mondeux is looking to advance position but Haws won't allow it. Mondeux is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Haws! Mondeux with good strikes from the mount here! Mondeux lands a big elbow. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Haws tries to get back to half guard but can't. Haws in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Mondeux landing strikes from the mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mondeux putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Mondeux tries to control but Haws wriggling away. Mondeux unloading with bombs!
Haws is rocked! Mondeux lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Haws is still in real trouble! Can Mondeux finish him? Mondeux is landing with some decent strikes but Haws is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Mondeux lands a big shot to the head and Haws winces in pain. He's tapped out due to strikes!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Renee Mondeux! An out of breath Renee Mondeux thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
