The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Petrenko stuffs the takedown.
Gauthier looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Petrenko looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Gauthier thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Petrenko's head.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Gauthier is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Petrenko!
Petrenko tries to reverse the position but Gauthier maintains control.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gauthier with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Petrenko can't escape the position.
Petrenko seems to have recovered his senses.

Petrenko sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Gauthier is looking for a kimura but Petrenko is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Gauthier to get the leverage.
Gauthier wants to control but Petrenko is keeping him busy.
Petrenko gets back to full guard.
Petrenko manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Petrenko blocks Gauthier's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.
Gauthier is desperately trying to improve his position but Petrenko has a good base and remains in mount.
Petrenko is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Gauthier can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Petrenko quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Petrenko but it's paid off an Gauthier is forced to tap! Nice work by Petrenko.
