Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Luule Growlsworth!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Elijah Jones!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Jeff Smith and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Growlsworth tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Jones paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Growlsworth throws a series of punches but Jones avoids them all with ease.

Growlsworth drives through with a takedown into guard.
Jones wants to sweep here but Growlsworth controlling him for the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jones is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Growlsworth is aware though and is defending well.
Growlsworth stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jones swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Jones is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Growlsworth wants to control from the top but Jones keeps moving.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Luule Growlsworth wasn't doing enough on the ground.

and Jones counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Growlsworth thinking.
Jones swats away the attempt to clinch by Growlsworth.
Growlsworth fails to land the takedown.
Growlsworth shoots in but Jones avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Jones fails in his attempt to clinch.

Jones scores with a takedown into Growlsworth's guard.

Jones seems to be working for a kimura but Growlsworth defends the submission attempt.

Growlsworth is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Growlsworth is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Jones pulls his head out easily.

Jones looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Growlsworth tries to kick Jones off but Jones keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Growlsworth looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Growlsworth is breathing heavily.
Jones passes the guard and advances to mount!
Jones controlling the pace for now.

Jones scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Growlsworth?
Jones takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Jones cracks Growlsworth with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Growlsworth can't escape the position.
Jones content just to control the position here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
It looks like Jones might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jones shoots in and drives through. Growlsworth sprawls well.
Growlsworth wants to clinch but Jones slips to the side
and Jones counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.

and Jones counters with a head kick.
Jones lands with a good body shot.

Jones closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Growlsworth quickly recovers to half guard.

Growlsworth is on the bottom, trying to hold on to half guard. He's throwing a few small shots here, to keep his opponent honest.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Growlsworth is looking to get back to is feet but Jones passes into side control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

You can see the frustration on Growlsworth's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Growlsworth tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
Jones takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jones avoids the attempt from Growlsworth to control.
Growlsworth is trying to reverse the position but instead Jones has taken his back - oops!
Jones is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.

Jones is landing with strikes. Growlsworth can't take much more of this.
Growlsworth trying to get back to his feet but Jones is in full control for now.
Growlsworth is really stuck here.

A bit of a pause in the action here. Jones controlling the positon.

Jones is looking for the choke from the back position but Growlsworth is controlling his hands well.

I really don't envy Growlsworth right now.
Elijah Jones has got the better of the ground game so far.

Jones is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Growlsworth knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Growlsworth for a finish.
Growlsworth can't escape the position.
Growlsworth is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.

Growlsworth is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Jones gets his way!
Growlsworth is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Jones.

Jones working from the back looking to end the fight with a rear naked choke. Growlsworth is doing well to defend. Jones seems to have got his hand under the chin though and he's sunk the choke in! Growlsworth is forced to tap and this one is over!
