PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between JG Wentworth (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anton Starikov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wentworth comes to the cage accompanied by CALL J.G. WENTWORTH. Anton Starikov will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A solid body kick from Starikov.
Starikov getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Starikov throws a head kick that misses.
Wentworth tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Starikov was well out of range. Poor timing from Wentworth.
Wentworth throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Wentworth changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Starikov looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Starikov takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Starikov wants to get back to his feet.

Starikov is trying to get back to half guard.
Wentworth in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Starikov manages to get back to half guard.
Still in half guard, Wentworth seems content to control.
Wentworth lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Starikov tries to get to full guard but Wentworth has control of the leg.

Starikov flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Wentworth has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Wentworth connects with a nice short shot to Starikov's temple.
Wentworth lands strikes from half guard.
Wentworth landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Starikov tries to roll over but Wentworth keeps him under control.
Wentworth is nestled in close to Starikov, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Wentworth trying to control from half guard but Starikov is working away.
Wentworth looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Starikov with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Wentworth lands a big elbow - Starikov is out of it! He's waving his arms around but his eyes are closed and he's not intelligently defending himself - the ref has no choice but to jump in and stop the fight! This one is in the books! A TKO win for Wentworth!

In his post fight interview, JG Wentworth started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
