Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Benoit Hacher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Baekjae Kim (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Benoit Hacher!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Baekjae Kim!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Steve Smith and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hacher misses with a wild body shot.
Hacher avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Kim misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Kim tries to clinch there but Hacher circles away.

Hacher gets caught flat footed, as Kim shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Hacher working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Kim.
Kim trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Kim is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Let's hope that Kim has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Kim won't allow Hacher to get back to his feet.

Kim drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Kim jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Kim advances position into side control!

Kim is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Hacher has escaped the position, nice work there.
Kim has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Kim wants to control but Hacher is keeping him busy.

Kim might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Hacher haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Kim throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Kim wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hacher keeps working.
Hacher is trying to control Kim's posture but Kim avoids it.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Baekjae Kim was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Kim throws a body punch but Hacher moves out of range.
Hacher connects with the punch.
Hacher displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Kim.
Hacher tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Kim shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Benoit Hacher has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Baekjae Kim.

Hacher drives through and clinches with Kim against the cage.

Hacher manages to break the clinch.
Kim shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
A head kick misses from Hacher.
Hacher shoots in for a double leg but Kim sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Hacher gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Kim to score an easy takedown into full guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kim pushes down on Hacher's leg and manages to get into half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hacher is looking to improve his position.

Hacher shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Hacher is defended easily by Kim.
Hacher keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Hacher lands a jab to the nose.
Hacher misses with a straight right.

Hacher gets a takedown into half guard.
Kim is pressing down on Hacher's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Hacher wants to stand and escape but instead Kim has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Kim trying to control the position from guard on top but Hacher is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Kim is stalling in the full guard.
Kim pushing down on Hacher's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Kim works his way into full mount!

Kim with shots to the head and body - Hacher looks very uncomfortable down there.
Hacher is looking to improve his position but Kim isn't that keen on the idea.

Kim gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!

Kim manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Hacher on his heels. He'll look to pass Hacher's guard now, I'm sure.
Kim is pushing down on Hacher's leg trying to pass to half guard. Hacher is fighting to maintain full guard but Kim has managed to sneak the leg through.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Kim wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hacher keeps working.

Kim slips a nice elbow through Hacher's hands, connecting with Hacher's forehead.
Kim is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Kim lands a nice shot to the head.
Kim tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Kim has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Hacher's face.
Kim breaks from Hacher's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Kim is trying to stand up but he's being controlled by his opponent.
Kim working the ground and pound effectively.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Baekjae Kim showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Hacher shoots in looking for a takedown. Kim tries to sprawl out of it but Hacher keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kim manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Kim not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Baekjae Kim has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Hacher instigates a clinch.

and Kim counters with a lovely shot to the body.

Hacher knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kim on the ground.

Kim wants to control from the top but Hacher keeps moving.
Kim slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Kim tries to stand but Hacher is controlling his head.

Hacher trying to control but Kim flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Watch the back of the head! Comes the shout from the referee towards Kim.
What can Hacher do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
Can Hacher hold on?! Kim is landing more strikes to his hapless foe.

Kim working for the rear naked choke here. He's got one arm under but Hacher is defending well. A couple of punches soften him up though and Kim has tightened the hold! This one could be all over! It is! Hacher taps out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Baekjae Kim!
Our winner, Baekjae Kim, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
