Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between James Black (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roger Martinez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, James Black!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Roger Martinez!
The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Black shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Black wants to free his trapped foot but Martinez is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Black controlling the action here.
Martinez works his way to full guard. Good work.
Black wants to stand but Martinez is controlling his posture from full guard.
Black slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Black trying to control the position from guard on top but Martinez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of James Black.
Martinez throws a right hand that Black ducks under and follows up with a left that Black also avoids with ease.
Martinez leaves Black with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Roger Martinez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Martinez lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Black tries to score a power double leg takedown but Martinez sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Black somewhat.
Martinez avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Martinez lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Black at a distance.

Black on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Black tries to get out of the position.

Martinez wants to get up but he can't break Black's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Martinez is fighting to break Black's control of his arms but Black is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Black throws his legs up looking for a submission but Martinez uses it to pass to side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Martinez fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Black tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Martinez easily slips into full mount!

Martinez throws some wild stikes that Black manages to avoid easily.
James Black overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Martinez throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Martinez prevents Black from getting the reversal.

Martinez looking to control but Black is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Black is really trying hard to get back to his feet.

That was a close second round but I would say that James Black will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Martinez rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Black moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Martinez lands with a nice body punch.
Black tries to close the distance and clinch up but Martinez swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Black shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Black showed some decent athleticism there.
Black is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Black is looking to stall here but Martinez recovers full guard.
Martinez not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Black working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Black will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Black engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Black throws a strike but Martinez rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Black trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Black, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
