PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Trevor Vinklark (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cat Marumbo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Damien Edna and Donatello Bradman.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marumbo closes the distance and clinches up with Vinklark, looking for a takedown. Marumbo pushes Vinklark against the cage but Vinklark circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Marumbo changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Vinklark looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Marumbo controls the position from side control.

Vinklark bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
Horrible takedown by Vinklark or perhaps it was just good defense by Marumbo which made him look bad.
Vinklark tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Vinklark darts in and clinches Marumbo up against the cage.
Vinklark blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Marumbo tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Vinklark smiles and moves away.
Marumbo changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Vinklark tries to avoid it but Marumbo manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Vinklark to the ground. Vinklark escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
The fight stays on the outside here - Marumbo looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Vinklark fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Vinklark fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Marumbo looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Vinklark gets caught napping as Marumbo dives in and scores a takedown. Vinklark manages to retain guard.

Vinklark is looking to stand up but Marumbo isn't so interested in that idea.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Cat Marumbo wasn't active enough on the ground.

Marumbo shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Vinklark napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Vinklark is breathing heavily.
Vinklark looks to land a combination. Marumbo sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Vinklark takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.

Marumbo closes the distance and clinches up with Vinklark, looking for a takedown. Marumbo pushes Vinklark against the cage but Vinklark circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Vinklark cracks Marumbo with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Marumbo manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Marumbo fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Vinklark sprawls well initially but Marumbo persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Marumbo drops an elbow to the side of Vinklark's head.

Marumbo is working for a kimura but Vinklark is defending it quite comfortably.
Vinklark wants to get back to full guard but Marumbo has mounted him!

Vinklark has left one of his arms exposed and Marumbo doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Vinklark screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.
