The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vieira is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Burns shoots in and bounces Vieira off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Vieira bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Burns's guard.
Vieira throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Burns works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Burns escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Vieira gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Vieira wants to stand but Burns has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Burns working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Vieira doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Vieira manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Burns looking for a guillotine here but Vieira defends easily.
Vieira has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

A determined Eugene Carl Alexander Burns didn't want to dwell on this fight in his post fight interview. Instead he was more keen to state he wants a title shot. Let's see if he gets it!
