Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Gabriel Rhababer! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Katsuyori Shibata! The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Shigeki Fujiwara and Sosuke Kotani.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shibata misses with a head kick.
Shibata throws a nice looking combination but Rhababer bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Shibata fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Rhababer is out of range. Shibata looks to land a left hand but Rhababer moved out of range nicely. Shibata throws a leg kick which misses Rhababer's front leg but catches the back leg as Rhababer tries to avoid it. Shibata throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Shibata throws a push kick but Rhababer slaps the foot to one side. Rhababer checks a low kick from Shibata. Rhababer throws a sloppy head kick and Shibata moves out of range easily. Shibata throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Shibata throws a head kick but Rhababer moves out of range.
Shibata ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Rhababer misses with a two punch combination.

That's one minute gone in the round. Shibata throws a leg kick but Rhababer sees it coming and checks it nicely. Shibata throws a sloppy head kick and Rhababer moves out of range easily. Shibata lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. Shibata misses with a straight right. Shibata throws a low kick but Rhababer avoids it. Rhababer avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Rhababer fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. A punch combination from Shibata misses. Rhababer blocks a low kick nicely. Nice body kick from Shibata.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rhababer on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Shibata swings for the body but Rhababer moves out of range.
Rhababer takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Shibata fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Rhababer is out of range. Shibata throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Shibata throws a sloppy head kick and Rhababer moves out of range easily. Rhababer decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Shibata has a hand on Rhababer's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Rhababer takes advantage of the position though and mounts him! Rhababer blocks Shibata's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom. Shibata is trying to escape the mount.

Shibata misses with a left hand and Rhababer counters with a right hand to the body. Katsuyori Shibata is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Rhababer uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Shibata. Rhababer lands an overhand right. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Shibata throws a big shot that misses. Shibata is looking to chop away at Rhababer's legs. Rhababer fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Shibata scores with a jab to the jaw. Rhababer avoids the head kick by Shibata.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rhababer looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Shibata with the active half guard here but Rhababer passes nicely into side control. Shibata is breathing heavily. Shibata is pushing Rhababer's head away, looking to escape. Rhababer manages to hold on to the position though. The referee asks Rhababer politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Rhababer prefers to stall for the moment though. Shibata is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Shibata tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.

Katsuyori Shibata showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Shibata takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Shibata is being controlled here. Shibata manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Rhababer controlling the action here. Shibata is looking for a sweep. Rhababer is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Rhababer seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Shibata for as long as he can get away with.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Gabriel Rhababer. Shibata misses with a head kick.

Rhababer doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Rhababer manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Rhababer showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Shibata looking for subs off his back but Rhababer has passed one foot through into half guard.

Shibata is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Gabriel Rhababer has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Shibata looking for a sweep but Rhababer has passed into full mount! Oh no! Rhababer fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
