Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between JJ Johnston (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tombstone Terry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Johnston comes into the arena with Shackler's Revenge - Guns N Roses blaring out of the sound system. JJ Johnston has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, JJ Johnston! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
23 - 35 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tombstone Terry! The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Robert Douchet and Dillan Fox.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Terry gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Johnston decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Terry's guard. Terry looks winded! Johnston stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Terry swivels though and keeps the full guard. Johnston is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Johnston seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Terry for as long as he can get away with.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of JJ Johnston. Johnston throws a head kick that misses and Terry counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
That's one minute gone in the round. Terry with a poor takedown and Johnston counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters. Terry wants to clinch up but Johnston keeps it at a distance. Terry takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Johnston with a body punch. A glancing blow. A head kick misses from Johnston. Johnston fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Johnston fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Terry, pushing him back against the cage. Terry pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage. Johnston looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Johnston pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Terry is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Terry showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Johnston.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Johnston fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Terry avoids it really well and circles away. Terry tries to clinch but Johnston is having none of it. Terry throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Johnston fails in his attempt to clinch. Johnston circles away from the clinch attempt.
Terry tries to clinch and Johnston counters with a crisp one two that drops Terry! Johnston thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Terry to his feet! Terry is in big trouble!
Terry is rocked! Johnston pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Terry is still on wobbly legs! Can Johnston finish him? Johnston tries to bum rush Terry with a series of wild strikes but Terry uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Johnston takes one on the button. A big right from Terry misses. Terry seems to have recovered his senses. Johnston drives through with a takedown into Terry's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Johnston showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Johnston might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Johnston tries to free his leg and advance position but Terry is retaining full guard. Terry being controlled here, momentarily. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
The ref stands the fighters back up. JJ Johnston wasn't doing enough on the ground. Terry with a lazy takedown attempt and Johnston counters with a head kick. JJ Johnston has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tombstone Terry. Johnston moves into range and clinches up with Terry. Johnston on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Johnston wants to break the clinch but can't.
Johnston's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Johnston goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Terry is trying desperately to land a takedown but Johnston is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Terry. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Johnston pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Terry misses with a left hand so Johnston counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Johnston controlling from the top position. Johnston throws a big right hand that misses. Johnston works a leg free and moves into half guard. Johnston wants to pass the guard but Terry is defending well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Terry is breathing heavily. Johnston controlling the action here. Johnston's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Johnston looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Terry throws a sloppy strike from the bottom. He's now off balance and Johnston manages to pass to side control. Johnston works to advance to full mount. Terry defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Johnston controlling the pace for now. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Johnston fails to take his opponent's back. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
JJ Johnston dominated that second round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!
Terry shoots and misses and Johnston counters with a left to the body. Tombstone Terry seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Johnston gets the takedown into side control. Johnston is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Terry's shoulder. That is not cool. Johnston decides to stand back up. Johnston throws the kick towards the body but Terry avoids it. Johnston lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Terry falls off balance throwing a combination
and Johnston counters with a monster head kick that knocks Terry out cold! He topples like fallen a tree, crashing to the mat! Timbeeeeeerrr!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:43 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). JJ Johnston! JJ Johnston was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
