Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Weston East!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Calgary Alberta!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Dillan Fox and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Alberta as East shoots in.

Alberta moves into the clinch.
Alberta is pressed up against the cage. East has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Alberta down to the mat. Alberta avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Alberta scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
East keeps the fight on the outside.

Alberta closes the distance and clinches.
Alberta tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

Alberta breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Alberta tries to clinch but fails miserably
and East counters with a nice body kick.

Alberta moves into the clinch.

Alberta breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Alberta gets a clinch.
Alberta lands a knee to the body.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
East jumps guard but Alberta stands there with East around his waist. East gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Weston East. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Alberta breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Calgary Alberta seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Alberta clinches.
Alberta putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has East in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.
Alberta just leaning against East, taking a breather.
East wants to break the clinch but can't.

East stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Alberta swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Alberta looking for submissions from the bottom but instead East passes into side control.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Alberta manages to get back to half guard.
Alberta is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
East is keen to just control but Alberta is a slippery customer.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
East uses his free foot to push down on Alberta's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Alberta.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

East is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Alberta to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Alberta shrugs it off.
Alberta is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Alberta is desperately trying to improve his position but East has a good base and remains in mount.
Alberta wants to control but East is having none of it.
East looking to control but Alberta is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
East will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

East is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Alberta has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Alberta regains half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
East passes to side control.
Alberta is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
East looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Alberta is avoiding damage well.
East staying calm.
Alberta really doesn't want to stay on the ground with East. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Alberta is trying to get back to half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Alberta throws a looping overhand right but East ducks down to avoid it.

Alberta drives through and clinches with East against the cage.
Alberta is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.
Alberta lands a nice shot to the body.

Alberta has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics East uses from the top position.

East is sitting in close to Alberta's body. Alberta has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! East is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, East is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Alberta.

Calgary Alberta was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
