Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Rome James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Smyth (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rome James! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Smyth! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Wesley Smith and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! James shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. James is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Smyth defends it well. James is looking to stall here but Smyth recovers full guard. James showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. James trying to move into half guard but instead Smyth has managed to sweep! Smyth tries to free his leg and advance position but James is retaining full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. James looking for a sweep. Not yet James, not yet. James seems keen to control Smyth's posture. James is trying to control the position but Smyth postures up. Smyth throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Smyth slips nicely into half guard. Smyth wants to lay and pray for a moment but James keeps working. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Smyth is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Smyth thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed James's head. James is pressing down on Smyth's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Smyth postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! James is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Smyth, into his guard. This has been an exciting period of action! James trying to control the position from guard on top but Smyth is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Smyth trying to control the position.
James trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
James Smyth has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. James has taken the fight to the clinch.
James gets a trip takedown into half guard. James wants to pass to mount but Smyth is defending the position. James throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Smyth to regain full guard. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Smyth wants to sweep here but James controlling him for the moment. Smyth keeping full guard, as James tries to pass. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Rome James dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
James clinches. James tightens his grip and picks Smyth up, before dumping him to the ground. Smyth manages to land in guard. James seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. James is looking to advance position but Smyth has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount! Smyth moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, James has worked his arm free - good work by James!
That's one minute gone in the round. Smyth looking to punish the body of his opponent here but James is avoiding damage well.
Smyth wants to control but James is keeping him busy. Smyth tries to advance to mount but can't. Smyth takes advantage of some sloppy striking from James to pass into mount. Smyth prevents James from getting the reversal. Smyth working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. James regains half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. James trying to control from the bottom.
James tries to get to full guard but Smyth has control of the leg. Smyth works his way into full mount! Smyth is working for a guillotine from mount but James frees his head quite easily.
Smyth has control of James's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and James regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Smyth is standing up, even though he is in mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. James dives in and scores a takedown into Smyth's guard. James throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Smyth works some decent striking defense from the bottom. James wants to control from the top but Smyth keeps moving. Smyth is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Rome James. James shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than James was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Rome James overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Smyth is pushing James's head away, looking to escape. James manages to hold on to the position though. Smyth manages to work his way to half guard, despite James's best efforts. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. James stalling away here and it's allowed Smyth to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard. James has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Smyth working for a triangle but James defends it easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Rome James will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!
James tries a head kick but it misses.
Smyth drives through and clinches with James against the cage.
Smyth has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics James uses from the top position. James pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Smyth is keeping the position for now. Smyth is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and James defends well.
That's one minute gone in the round. James has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Smyth is proving hard to escape from. James trying to control the position from guard on top but Smyth is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Rome James just wasn't active enough. James looking to score a takedown here. Smyth is defending well but James drives through and ends up in Smyth's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. James wants to control from the top but Smyth keeps moving. James is looking to stand up but Smyth won't let him.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Smyth is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace. Smyth tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. James smiles and moves away.
Rome James is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. James gets the takedown into side control. James working the strikes but Smyth uses the opportunity to regain half guard. James tries to pass to full mount but Smyth defends it. James wants to take a breather but Smyth is having none of it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. James is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Both fighters are breathing heavily. Smyth is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
And that's the end of the fight! Rome James showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for James, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
