PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lyov Kirijenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bill Cutting (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 16 - 1, fighting out of London, Lyov Kirijenko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 15 - 0, fighting out of London, Bill Cutting!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, James Ackerman and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cutting looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Cutting digs a good hook to Kirijenko's body.
Kirijenko looks to throw the jab but Cutting is out of range.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Kirijenko misses with a hook.
Cutting looks to land a right hand but Kirijenko moved out of range.
Kirijenko moves into range and connects with a jab.
Cutting closes the distance but Kirijenko moves to the side
and Kirijenko cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Cutting tries to clinch up
and Kirijenko counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Cutting thinking.
A head kick misses from Cutting.
Cutting throws a series of punches but Kirijenko moves out of range.
Kirijenko avoids a punch combination nicely.
Kirijenko throws a jab when Cutting was well out of range.
Cutting lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Kirijenko circles away quickly and effectively.
Cutting throws a head kick that misses.
A combination from Kirijenko does no damage.
Kirijenko dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Kirijenko misses with an uppercut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Cutting is looking to clinch.

Kirijenko lands with a hook. Cutting tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

Cutting instigates a clinch.
Kirijenko can't get the takedown.
Kirijenko goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

Cutting breaks the clinch.
Cutting checks a leg kick.
Kirijenko avoids the head kick by Cutting.
Kirijenko connects with a right hand. Cutting shakes it off.
Kirijenko avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Cutting looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Kirijenko tries to land a front kick but Cutting steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Cutting misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Kirijenko shoots in looking for a takedown. Cutting tries to sprawl out of it but Kirijenko keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Cutting manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Bill Cutting seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cutting tries to clinch there but Kirijenko circles away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kirijenko lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Cutting tries to bum rush Kirijenko with a series of wild strikes but Kirijenko uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Cutting takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

Cutting closes the distance and pushes Kirijenko back into the cage.
Kirijenko is looking to control Cutting's arms but Cutting gets an underhook and turns him. Now Kirijenko has his back to the cage.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Cutting is trying to force a seperation but Kirijenko has the dominant position.
Kirijenko prevents Cutting from breaking the clinch.
Kirijenko has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Cutting after a bit of a struggle.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lyov Kirijenko. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Cutting tries to circle away but Kirijenko has him pinned against the cage.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Kirijenko takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Kirijenko keeps control of Cutting as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Kirijenko stalling the fight.
Kirijenko lands with a right to the head.
Kirijenko manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Kirijenko turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Kirijenko tries to move into full mount but can't pass Cutting's legs.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kirijenko wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cutting keeps working.
Kirijenko throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
The strikes coming from Kirijenko are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Kirijenko cracks Cutting with an elbow. That is naaassty.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kirijenko misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Kirijenko wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cutting keeps working.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lyov Kirijenko dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Kirijenko avoids the head kick by Cutting.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Kirijenko looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Cutting!
Kirijenko misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Kirijenko has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Kirijenko stands up and beckons Cutting to his feet.
Cutting wants to clinch up but Kirijenko keeps it at a distance.
Kirijenko shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Sloppy strikes from Cutting. Those never looked like landing.

Kirijenko decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kirijenko throwing shots but Cutting is blocking nicely.
Still in half guard, Kirijenko seems content to control.

Kirijenko tries to pass the half guard into mount. Cutting knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Kirijenko is trying to control the action in half guard but Cutting is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Lyov Kirijenko has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Cutting swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Kirijenko scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Cutting pushes Kirijenko off looking to stand but Kirijenko dives back in and keeps control.
Kirijenko thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Cutting's head.
Kirijenko is trying to control the action in half guard but Cutting is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Kirijenko performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Lyov Kirijenko.
Kirijenko throws a chopping leg kick but Cutting manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Cutting throws a head kick that misses.
Kirijenko lands with a right hand.
Cutting looks to land a right hand but Kirijenko moved out of range.
Kirijenko is looking to slow Cutting down with leg kicks.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Cutting throws a nice looking combination but Kirijenko bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Cutting tries to clinch but Kirijenko moves out of range.
Cutting tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Kirijenko manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Kirijenko throws the left hand but Cutting avoids the punch easily.
Bill Cutting seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Cutting fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Cutting throws a hook to the side of Kirijenko's head but Kirijenko sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Cutting gets a clinch.
Kirijenko controlling the action here for a moment.

Cutting's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Cutting dodges the punch combination from Kirijenko.

Cutting works over Kirijenko's head and body with a nice combination.

Cutting tries to close the distance and clinch but Kirijenko swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Some wild striking there from Cutting.
Kirijenko swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Kirijenko lands with a hook. Cutting tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Cutting jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Cutting throws a lazy right hand but Kirijenko sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Kirijenko takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Kirijenko misses with a few strikes there.
Kirijenko keeps the fight on the outside.
Kirijenko lands a nice shot to the body.
Kirijenko takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Cutting lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Kirijenko circles away quickly and effectively.
Kirijenko blocks a head kick by Cutting.
Cutting misses with a double jab.
Cutting walks into a left hand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Lyov Kirijenko will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Kirijenko fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Cutting on the side of the head.
Cutting needs to keep his hands up - Kirijenko had a free shot at his head there.
Cutting throws a sloppy head kick and Kirijenko moves out of range easily.
Kirijenko lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Kirijenko feints a jab promting Cutting to slip. Kirijenko then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Cutting slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Cutting tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Cutting tries to close the distance and clinch up but Kirijenko swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Kirijenko throws a low kick but it's checked well by Cutting.
Kirijenko takes one on the button.
Cutting is pawing at Kirijenko, trying to feel the distance before throwing out a cross that crashes into Kirijenko's nose. Kirijenko is badly hurt! Cutting pounces, throwing wild strikes as both fighters end up on the ground! Kirijenko tries desperately to hold on but Cutting is relentless in his assault! As Kirijenko receives an ever increasing number of unanswered strikes the referee pulls Cutting away and this one is in the books!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:38 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Bill Cutting!
