The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yager shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Diaz eats them both and turns towards Yager to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Diaz avoids a punch combination nicely.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Diaz is defended easily by Yager.
Yager misses with a few strikes there.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Diaz.
Yager throws a series of punches but Diaz avoids them all with ease.
Yager slaps away a takedown attempt from Diaz, before circling back to the center of the mat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Diego Diaz. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Yager looks to land a combination but Diaz avoids it well.
Yager rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Diaz moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Yager lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Yager fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Diaz is out of range.
Yager pivots, looking for a leg kick but Diaz is out of range and Yager settles back down.
Yager falls off balance throwing a combination
and Diaz counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Diaz fails with a takedown attempt.
Yager rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Diaz moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Diaz shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Yager throws a jab when Diaz was well out of range.
Diaz takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Yager scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Some wild striking there from Yager.
Yager looks winded!
Yager throws a leg kick
and Diaz counters with a lovely shot to the body.

Yager ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Diaz moves away.
Joseph Yager seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Diaz is trying hard to land a takedown here. Yager sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Yager misses with a wild body shot.
Yager throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Diaz.
Yager keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Diaz closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Diaz is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Yager to keep the fight standing.
Diaz drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Yager gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Yager has had enough of the clinch but Diaz keeps him there for the moment.

Diaz pulls Yager into guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Diaz has his feet on Yager's thighs here. He's pushed Yager off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Yager screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!

Diego Diaz spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
